i read that Central are using some TM cuts ..as used by signal..What package /cuts are they.

If its true its good that owners are happy with jingles from the USA which great news for UK radio..

There using cuts from the old Madison Avenue package by TM and they sound great on air. I believe that BBC Radio Lancashire used the same ones a while back so that may be a good move when you consider how listeners may be familiar with that sound. They were also used by BBC North, although possibly just in the North East and Yorkshire.

PS Unfortunatly news, weather and travel are just generic beds with a voice over so you have to listen for a while before you hear a Mad Ave cut.

I was listening online a few days ago and agree that they sound great. Nice to hear plenty of sung place names too rather than a generic slogan. (I heard one with “Central Lancashire” sung, and another with “Preston, Chorley and Leyland” if I remember correctly)

At the beginning of the year they were taken over by the owners of Dune 107.9 in Southport, who also use TM jingles, so there's obviously someone there with a taste for Dallas jingles. Nice that they went for a classic package too rather that one that's just in vogue at the minute.

They didn't waste much time dropping the UTV package from IQ Beats did they! (I wonder if this was contractual though?)

Would love to hear the Madison Avenue versions, any chance you could post some “off-air” recordings, perhaps from the DAB system ?

Its great that small stations can invest in an on air style ..When you think that its so easy to buy these jingles from studio Dragonfly… and the end product is as good as the online demo.

I worked at radio lancs years back and was the station VO for the K-Lite package……. the listeners would sing the jingles down the phone or in the street at an OB.. the same when I was with The wave in Blackpool the listeners knew the words to all the jingles.

Good luck David Duffy and his team ..its good to have a radio management team that “likes” what comes out of the speakers …most of the group management teams only listen to count the number of adverts
