In the lastest stable of “Un-country” country jingles. Really interesting that Tony is finally getting his hand at the Country format.

I am not sure if I find this interesting Mak. For a CHR station – perhaps – but in the country sound,
this package doesn't make sense at all to me, or perhaps I am already too old (37) to understand
what should be a country package these days… ???

Moreover, lyrics and final of each cut are so predictable; where have the real concepts gone?
I usually keep quiet on this matter, but it becomes too obvious that something is missing.

You can throw rocks at me, but “if” these cuts reflect the new jingle era, in my opinion it is sad.

My understanding is that a lot of Country stations in the U.S. use CHR jingles. I don't think M-Edge really would call KOLT country a full fledged country package. As a matter of fact check the comments directly from the M-Edge site:

“Dan Baisden, PD of Grenax Broadcasting's KSED-FM was looking to rebrand his country station with something differentsomething that wouldn't be too country and that would stand out. The answer was to re-vamp one of M-Edge's CHR jingle packages. Kolt Country is a complete remix of the KUDD Mix 107-9″

I don't think the package has much of a country feel or sound to it. But if KSED was looking for something to stand out inbetween the country songs this sure will do it because it is so “un-country”! If you ask me that's surely one way to be different. Props to Dan Baisden for being brave and unique.

It makes some pretty decent sense to me.

Oh yes and it is definitely predictable. However, that is a common branding technique in the US…stations tend to stick to very specific and simple ideas to BRAND the station. KDWB for example uses only Frequency and Call letters. Several years back they used a slogan also but they dropped it. KHKS in Dallas uses mostly Frequency and KISS-FM…not to mention that their frequency sing is ALWAYS the SAME MELODY….ALWAYS! I bet if you ask the producers they would tell you themselves that it gets a little redundant to create jingle after jingle with the same exact melody one after the other.

Yawn. There are plenty of other options out there that “stand out” but don't stick out like a sore thumb. I'd never want to hear these on a country station.

Not only Country but some of the AC stations have CHR packages. WLTW New York run some of the KIIS cuts from Reelworld.

Some might find out of format jingles on a station odd (its been happening for years btw) but if thats the sound the PD wants who are we to argue!

KOLT Country has done its job for KSED and is still doing greatly!

                    Radio.Jingles is wright!

This package fits KSED perfectly and I'm sure it will fit other country stations as well.

I understand your point guys, but I disagree a to z. Being different is one thing. But you wouldn't use rock jingles for an AC station just because “it has to be different”. The same rule should apply
to country radio. It has to be “logical”, otherwise, this would be like saying: “we can play
Dan Fogelberg and Kylie Minogue back to back… or Roseanne Cash followed by Chris Brown.”

I might be wrong, but I always thought that jingles were a bridge – rather than a crack –
                      between an artist and another.
