    Good Time Oldie

Why does this singer always sound like she's full of flu and needs to blow her nose?. A couple of nice tracks here despite/inspite (never know which one is right….thicko) of that though.

Nice sounding station, good luck to Darren, Martin and the team for the future.

PS Can I hear “Back for good” on the first bed, or is it just me?

There's a station by me that has some of these. She sounds like she's got a sore throat on those. I'm afraid as much as I've tried to like them I've never thought much of Bespoke past a really early demo that I heard. Perhaps as far back as '97. There were some better cuts on there with a male vocalist.

All Bespoke singing is poor.they should give up and go home and let true jingle companies do the work… Stations have focus groups and stations wont play songs that dont fit the station style .but they will use bad station sung jingles next to their core music tracks……..I still think the best jingles come out of the USA

This reminds me of the old adage that “all generalisations are wrong”.

I think Bespoke have produced some great work and – like all companies – some that's less good. I think the USA has produced some great jingles and some deeply naff ones. Same with the UK.

I drove across Britain yesterday and what was great was to hear so many stations using sung jingles from lots of companies. So long live these 6-second songs, whoever makes them and wherever they happen to be based …

No-one can ever “get it right every time” no matter how good, but at least they try!

For a classic example of “dodgy singing” by even one of the greats of Dallas, perhaps someone could post the early-Alfasound County Sound song that was re-sung by a very enebriated-sounding Trella Hart?!?

I have to agree and say that Bespoke has done some nice packages in the past, Spire FM, Ridings FM, Radio Carousel spring to mind. In fact, I have two personal cuts upstairs somewhere too, not with this singer though.

Yes it's also true that all companies have their good and bad days, even those in Dallas (I wonder which package we're talking about lol), but I agree totally that it would be a very sad day when radio contained no sung jingles at all.

“enebriated-sounding Trella Hart?!?”…now that I'd love to see and hear lol (Iain I had to look up “enebriated” to find out what it meant…lol)

But its the singing which is poor for Bespoke the beds are ok.. And yes some USA jingles with some studio singers are as bad ..but no true station would use the b singers if they used a USA product

We on this forum enjoy a great jingle product..we enjoy how its put together..just because its sung jingle isnt the answer ..It has to be good to sell the station and get the listeners to tune in..

What do we remember early Old Radio 1 …Pams stuff , We all remember the 208 jingles and how good they worked on air,And Atlantic 252 the station is dead and gone ..but I can still hear the jingles in my head….isnt that what makes a quality jingle work on air..its so good we remember that but music is 2nd on the list

Everyone remembers the Radio city news jingles..I never rated it..Maybe because it was my voice over that took over from the.. One ,Nine Four … Radio City….. high pitched sing.

So many people remember radio city from the glory days of 70's and 80's radio in the uk just by that old sung news jingle……so listeners do listen to jingles

Yeah, it sounds like a speeded up version of that to me. Check it on You Tube and play them back to back.

Ref Trella Hart and “enebriated” (which is of course spelt “inebriated”, no doubt teachercreature & ratnob will each give me 100 lines for that “schoolboy error”)!

This is legendary Trella when doing a set of re-sings of the “County Sound Song” circa 1987 – perhaps it had been a long day, perhaps she was giving “musical creativeness” to the lyrics, perhaps she was applying her “Dallas Jazz Club” singing style to the jingles….or….maybe she was simply unable to get her timing right or couldn't quite get her tonsils around the word “…Sound” on that note…or…..?

As a comparison, there's 2 UK sings of the song to the earlier Alfa 1985 track (which itself was derived from the original Les Reed version from the station launch package circa 1983).

Anyway, even the very best can have an off-day! (…but STILL probably THE most distinctive female voice to ever grace the studios of Dallas)

Iain, see what you mean about Trella, I also agree she has to be the most “recognisable” (let me quickly check that with Bully) voice in jingles.

                        Thanks for the upload.
