May 27, 2009 at 8:40 pm #67309RjMTalking of Positron, I was watching the film “Son Of Rambow” at the weekend which briefly featured the Radio 1 version of cut number 8 “This week's top 40” together with a “number 16” acappella.
The package name and cut number even featured in the end credits, with a composer credit to Jonathan M. Wolfert and Christopher Kershaw.

This is one of my favourite packages, partly because it's one of the first I received as a demo from JAM and listened to on air in New York back in 1978. Interesting also to se what the cuts were labelled as when they were produced. Great work.

Do JAM (or indeed anyone else?!?) still do this, or is “Package XYZ, Cut #12” the norm nowadays (perhaps after 35+ years of thousands & thousands of custom-created cuts running out of names must be very likely!)

I once spoke to Steve England about this when he was at Alfasound this was the case for example this cut on the demo sang about frosty day but it was named the “LA CUT”

I think it was Graham Collins who recently posted about JAM jingles in films, referencing The Shining…
On the JAM website, there is a list of films that feature JAM jingles including Son Of Rambow:-
Mrs. Harris (HBO)
Zodiac
Son of Rambow
Keep Your Distance
Private Parts
Eddie
Losing Isaiah
Beverly Hills Cop III
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Fourth Protocol
Into The Night
O.C. and Stiggs
Promises In The Dark
