It may be that I've just not being paying attention, but isn't the cut-by-cut “Feel the Magic” section new on the JAM website?:

      Very good they sound too.

Thanks for pointing this out Geoff! I had a feeling this might appear soon. Its appears that Jon is getting some packages on-line with cut-by-cut before (or instead?) a traditional demo has been produced.

We've waited a few years for this to appear (Having only heard a few Dutch re-sings from Top Format) and I think it was well worth the wait, I love it! Isn't the “and the weather is…” cut fun, and it's also been a while since we've heard a promo song.

Wouldn't this fit Magic 105.4 brilliantly?

I wonder if the the follow up “Feel The Magic Too” will also be on-line soon.

Agree – that weather cut is a real gem.

I like these! The vocals sound different to the normal JAM harmonies. They do sound a little Reelworld'ish. Great package all the same. Well done Jon and co at JAM!

Now as a JAM fan – its great as something to listen to!
The sheer quality of the production, instrumenation, vocals….

Very distinctly “JAM” – but with some very clear echoes back to PAMS (that Christmas cut especially, and also “And the weather is…” is right out of WAYS Charlotte's PAMS 27 all those years ago).

And the fact that the lyrics vary a bit from cut to cut rather than simply the exact same at merely a different tempo or texture is very refreshing (Len will no doubt give his Stamp of Approval!)

However – exactly HOW OLD though is this as a custom?
Lyrics of “today's hits…” don't seem to quite go with the “traditional” JAM muiscal style on these.

Apart from that – I could see a few JM'ers that could like a Personal Cut from this excellent package! :^)

                    W o W !

There is so MUCH to absorb here…

~ imaginative constructions ~ new style vocals ~ creative tracks ~

…. that it will take a few listens..

..but that VARIETY is so good to hear, so refreshing, compared to the 'screechy vocal' jingles we hear too many of nowadays from some other companies..

Well done Jon and the JAM team, it's 'Nostalgic but Fresh' !

As I said earlier “ohhhhhhhh !”…

Just picking up on what Jonno & Neal said about a “Reelworld” sound, in my ears, it`s not a “Reelworld” sound but I would bet there`s a change in the singer line-up, as the vocal harmony sounds different.

Don`t know whether you guys will agree with me on this but the way the JAM singers sing the “2” in 102.5 – it sounds like New York accents not Dallas !

For me, the main thing is that AC stations are very, very different. Whilst these cuts might not suit Neil's AC in Dubai, they seem to work in Detroit … just as all of us know lots of stations where the more fashionable ReelWorld sound doesn't blend at all well with the music.

It's horses for courses and all that …

There are two stations in the Cumberland, Maryland and Clarksburg, West Virginia called “Magic 100.5 and Magic 106.5” respectively. They use “Feel the Magic”. They stream online at http://www.cumberlandsmagic.com and http://www.wvmagic.com

Here are some examples recorded off of the webstream of the two webstreams. If you go to their webpages, they are almost identical.

The first cut is the JAM original; the second is recorded off air from 2000.

To be honest, I don't really like this package. The musical quality and arrangments are as always very well done, but the sonic logo sounds too 'flat' – it's a bit boring. Hearing the cuts on the background wouldn't make my day much brighter or happier.

The logo melody of competitor WNIC sounds much more 'up', fresh and bright to me…
