They seem to be airing one jingle per hour now, coming out of commercial breaks. I'm guessing it's Reelworld but I don't know for sure.

In any case, these sound neither “adult” nor “contemporary” to me – more like CHR from the late 90s/early 2000s. And there seems to be little if any melody in the tracks. They totally clash with the sound of the station as far as I'm concerned, but hey, what do I know? Still interesting to hear jingles on the station after all these years.

Yep, I understand they've felt the pressure from Fresh 102.7 with those distinctive JAM cuts. These sound like pretty typical ReelWorld to me, and a bit predictable in their vocals and logo (Kiss FM), but – as ever – the more jingles are on the air, the better. Thanks for posting.

          Yes, it's Reelworld.

Why would you put those on an AC station? Nice jingles and a great package but wrong station.

It's an awful cut. It really takes down the flow and pace of the station. Every jingle has to advertise a station, this will send listeners away. The format of the jingles doesn't fit, the instrumentation doesn't work…

Why did they do this? At Reelworld One they keep producing cuts demo-ed for 106.7 Lite FM all the time. Why are they not using them?

The cuts are from Kiss Dallas 2004… very weird choice.

Not sure I'm a fan either, but WLTW's PD used to buy CHR jingle packages when he programmed B101 in Philly, so it's kind of his MO. It's more surprising to me that Lite is running jingles at all than they're using a CHR package.

And what were the ratings doing during that period? Let me guess…

I admit I'm no expert on programming a station, and while I agree these jingles do seem a little extreme for the Lite format, there is an argument for jingles that stand out from the music, rather than seamlessly blending in and going un noticed. Perhaps these take that concept just a bit too far?

Maybe this works better the other way around with AC/classic jingles on a CHR station? If properly produced and mixed with current production techniques?

I believe Dave Foxx has said that Z100's jingles and imaging always sounded a bit edgier than the music. But they never stuck out like a sore thumb as these jingles do.

I know that package, it's KIIS 2007. Shocking, because B101 was B 101.1 and used the correct package Windy 100 1998.

Why would people who like to listen to the sound of AC-hits suddenly dislike that musical style in the jingles. In other words: why would listeners who like the artists and instrumentation typical to AC also like the fast and furious zips and zingers from CHR? The most succesfull AC-stations worldwide always play AC-jingles (KOST L.A., WNIC Detroit, Sunny in Houston and so on).

I agree on Dave Foxx: on CHR you have to 'turn your name up loud' but CHR-listeners choose their station because of the power and excitement, a very different philosophy…

I'm not saying listeners do dislike jingles that match the music genre, and of course 99.9% of AC stations do air AC jingles, presumably for a reason.

I'm just posing the possibility that Lite FM have gone down this route to make the station name stand out from the music more than it would with an AC package.

As I said I too personally think the Kiss package takes standing out a little far for a Lite station, but who can really say what's right or wrong, it's all down to personal listening preference. They're trying something different, which way it will affect ratings I don't know…

I hope you didn't guess “bad,” because that station's dominated Philadelphia for years. :) And let's be honest — we're all here because we love jingles, but they're not exactly something that's going to help or hurt the numbers either way (part of the package, yes, but nowhere near a determining factor).

Seems odd that Lite FM has gone from Clear Channel's clutter clearing style with minimal imaging to uptempo sung jingles, guess the station is trying something new after a the post Christmas PPM ratings dip. More odd is that they're just starting using a package thats six years old, why not get a more recent Kiss FM package resung like KIIS Suite? My guess would be that they had them done in 2003/4 but never aired them, then the new PD found them in a cupboard and decided to give them an airing.

If they have had those in a closet, Reelworld will nail them. I know that you buy the package, and then pay 10% of the original cost every year-as a liscence renewall.

So, I think they may have just bought these.

                                        Either way, wrong package!

Yes they did, it's called ' New Yorks lite from TM Studios.

That package was done either in 2003 or 2004 but I can't remember now. I still can't believe that the package is still sitting there, just waiting to aire.

And no, the slogan was “New Yorks Lite Rock”, not the current slogan.

But I agree with all of you on the subject of Right and wrong packages. WSNX in my aeria when it was 104-5 Sunny FM Hot AC it was using Lite 105 1999 from ReelWorld.

But it's the PD's choice. At least Lite FM are now airing jingles than no jingles at all.

I think the new jingle package WLTW is using may have come from N2Effect, not Reelworld because my local CHR station here had used the package, which I recognized them(WPST in Trenton also used the package until I believe last year when they brought a newer CHR package) It was the custom package for KHKS in Dallas made sometime in 2001 or 2002.

In any case, they really need to dump this package as quick as they can because they do not belong to the station, especially if it is named “Lite FM”. They should have opted for a JAM custom like fellow AC stations KOST-LA and WNIC-Detroit. WLTW is the most listened to lite rock station in the New York metro area.

You guys should remember that after WWFS-Fresh 102.7 debuted two years ago, the “Lite” moniker was temporarily dropped in favor of “New York's 106.7” but months later brought back the “Lite” branding because of its heritage.

I think that's a smart choice. First, Lite FM fits the 3 Note kiss logo, second, it makes Lite FM “Lite FM”, and third, it's ReelWorld, if they got JAM, they would surely have sounded like Fresh.

As it's been said time and time again, JAM produces what the client wants. If they wanted a sound that was distinctly different from Fresh, that's what they would have gotten. And there's no reason they couldn't have used the “Kiss FM” logo.

That said, I will admit that some of the mellower cuts in this package sound pretty decent on the air.
