Can anyone remember the dancing sequence in Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in? This was featured at the beginning of the show and had the cast dancing to some music. The music stopped and one member say Judy Carne would tell a joke and then the music played for a few seconds then another member of the cast such as Henry Gibson would tell a joke.

While listening to Pepper and Tanner's “It's What's Happenin' WCAO Package” I heard this bed, which I think was used as part of that dance sequence of the show. Here it is.

Anyone recognise it or know if it was ever used in Laugh-in?

Just as a corollary to the above, I think the “Fun One” package by P-T was intended as a sort-of
“radio version” of the Laugh-in, with stations getting a big bundle of comedy “drop-ins” provided
        along with the actual jingles?

Thanks Wixy for the info. I first heard that bed on a tape I purchased from East Anglian Productions in 1971 and ever since then I've often wondered if it was ever used at sometime in Laugh-In.

Yes he had a great radio voice although I didn't know at the time he was a radio presenter. He and Tommy Vance were two of a kind.

I've just posted the Pepper-Tanner “Fun One” demo
via the “Simple & Free WCOD” Thread.

Actually one of P-T's better efforts – some VERY recognisable Dallas vocalists in there
(even if it was done in Memphis…)

The “It's What's Happening” bed certainly wasn't used on “Laugh-In”. But the long theme from the P-T “Fun One” package (which I currently use a resung version of as a programme opener) is quite closely based on the Laugh-In “Mod Mod World” theme which I believe was composed by Billy Barnes. “The Fun One” was an excellent jingle package – it was all built around the Laugh-In idea and liberally stole stuff from the show. I seem to remember that P-T offered to send new jokes every month!

By the way, Gary Owens – the announcer from Laugh-In – is alive and well and still working. He can be heard doing the intro to the Kenny Tosh show every week on Radio Six International http://www.radiosix.com
