Who has recorded more 45s (at least 60 known singles) than any female singer in recording history?
While Terry Jenkins might not be a household name, in 1961 her voice could be heard on radio stations across the country, from Abilene to Winston-Salem, singing localized versions of “My Home Town.”
At 80, Jenkins sat down for her first-ever interview to talk about how her singing career started, her time as a jingle singer for PAMS, and the “My Home Town” recording sessions.

Enjoy!

October 8, 2009 at 12:25 pm #70429Digital EdYes, The Tyler My Home Town, KDOK is hard to find, I have been looking a long long time! If you have ANY other Texas “My Home Town”, like KNUZ Houston, or KLIF Dallas…Austin etc, that would be greatly appreciated as well! Thanks again for looking!

Thank you for a very nice interview with Terry Jenkins. Did you, by any chance, record it? Would love to hear it the audio if ya did.
Here are 2 more tracks for WKMI Kalamazoo, MI and WCAO Baltimore, MD. Both were extremely scratchy but with a little help from Sound Forge they cleaned up pretty good.
Enjoy!!

Hello topcat, So far I have Houston, Little Rock, Honolulu, Scranton, “Stop and Go” commercial version and the instrumental. I also have the “promo” recorded in 1961 by PAMS where announcer is introducing it.
If ANYONE has the “Tyler My Home Town” version I am willing to “buy” it!! It was on KDOK in Tyler, Texas.
Many ThanksOctober 10, 2009 at 2:14 am #70457topcatOkay…. Here are some HOMETOWN SONGS for Texas radio stations.
Enjoy………
October 13, 2009 at 12:35 pm #70512Digital EdThanks topcat, I had never heard the Lufkin TX one, I sure wish I could find Tyler!! I am not sure if I wrote to PAMS they would even still have it….and HOW much it would cost if they did?
Lisa. you have the “45” record of Tyler My Home Town, interested in making me a copy or selling it?
I attached the original PAMS explanation promo (not the best quality) on how this jingle was introduced to the radio market at the time

I don't know if PAMS would have the original master reel for Tyler or not. Jon… you watching this thread?
Also… FYI… The excerpt you provided was from a never completed “rough draft” on the history of PAMS that was never meant for public consumption.

October 13, 2009 at 8:56 pm #70532Digital EdTracy, I was unaware of the “PAMS rough draft” not for the public? I have removed my link from my post, sorry?
Who is Jon if I may ask?

You can leave the link up… It has already been widely circulated already anyway.
Jon is Jon Wolfert… who owns JAM and PAMS. He looks in on these threads from time to time and might respond if he pops in here.

October 16, 2009 at 12:17 pm #70619Digital EdHopefully “Jon” will see my needs and wants post as well, I am desperate for that Tyler My Home Town!!
October 23, 2009 at 1:11 pm #70783Digital EdI wrote to PAMS/JAM and did not get a response. I feel they do not have it in the archives….oh well, I will hope some kind soul has it here and will see this post.
October 23, 2009 at 5:07 pm #70788GlennaMemberIt takes time to receive things.
And e-mails are no different.October 27, 2009 at 2:10 pm #70857Digital EdBeaver205, Not sure about you, but after 3 weeks go by and not a word most likely they don't have it or just too busy to get back. Hopefully I am wrong
BTW, Does anyone know of any other jingle places I could look? ThanksOctober 27, 2009 at 2:49 pm #70858IainJohnstonMemberEd, a couple of years ago I was similarly trying to obtain some material from JAM and was getting no reply.
However, after some investigation it turned out that my ISP's spam filtering system was somehow deciding that emails from JAM were to be junked. Once my settings were overhauled, no problem.
Jon is a very helpful guy, so unless there is something unusual about your own emails heading into HIS system, then I'm sure he would have responded.
So I would recommend that you have a very deep checkout of your Internet system's spam & malware filtering settings just in case something similar is happening to yourself.
October 27, 2009 at 5:53 pm #70861GlennaMemberSince Wixy brought this up; I downloaded a couple things {off JM } in the past that my anti-virus went nuts on.
So be careful that you don't and others don't upload something we all do not want.October 28, 2009 at 3:30 pm #70875Digital EdNo sir, I have a very good email service and can check every spam and filtered email that is sent to me.
It could be because I filled out the “request” form on PAMS site instead of a direct email to Jon, BUT I do not have his email address? Anyone?October 28, 2009 at 3:59 pm #70876Lisa_WheelerEd – The level of obsession you have for this record is scary. It took me almost ten years to find my “holy grail” album. Found it earlier this month – and it was nothing more than an accident when it happened. Bam – there it was.
I'll echo Beaver's statement, it takes time.
Patience.
