It was announced today that 94.7, Chicago's True Oldies Channel will soon be known as 94.7 WLS-FM! The newspaper article even mentions them getting jingles being similar to those used in the past, so hopefully that means JAM!

If they run the JAM 80s stuff, I'll be listening online all day!!

June 20, 2008 at 3:21 am #60065mjb1124MemberSince the format is “True Oldies”, that probably means 60s and/or 70s jingles. Still excited to hear what's in store in any case.
June 20, 2008 at 4:59 am #60071GlennaMemberI wonder what it would sound like with one of the KOOL packages or DIA.

Yeah. The “FM” package is one of those that sound a bit different from the norm but really stand out in a good way.
June 20, 2008 at 8:49 am #60074JingleMadMemberAnyone got these elusive cuts that they can put here as i for one have not heard them?
Cheers.June 20, 2008 at 5:41 pm #60080AndyWaltersMemberHere we go then Rob. From the Authentic 80's JAM Demo CD this is 'FM'. Not your usual JAM fayre in terms of style but still sounds fresh with this genre. I've edited the bit off the front to conserve space good though it is with clips of jingles sweeping into Cher and Hall & Oates tracks. My favourite bit of JAM demos when I hear them for the first time is working out the tracks that are played in them.
Anyway I digress…http://jinglemad.com/e107_files/public/1213983664_2282_FT62817_fm_jam_demo.mp3 filename:fm_jam_demo.mp3
June 20, 2008 at 6:11 pm #60082JingleMadMemberHey very nice.
Thanks a lot Andy.June 20, 2008 at 9:00 pm #60085SeanMartinAFAIK, TM does the True Oldies format jingles. But I'm pretty sure I have some of the old WLS-FM cuts from JAM's Skywave and Warpfactor packages . . . . . . somewhere!!
I'll post them here if they surface soon, unless some kind soul beats me to it.

June 21, 2008 at 5:12 am #60091mjb1124MemberYou're right about TM doing the True Oldies jingles, but from what I've gathered, WLS-FM will be developing more of its own identity, which will include different jingles. Since WLS-AM still uses JAM, it's very possible that WLS-FM will follow suit. But we shall see.

June 26, 2008 at 5:54 pm #60186mjb1124MemberWLS-FM officially came back at midnight today, and it looks like they are in fact using JAM! Right now it's the standard True Oldies feed with Scott Shannon, but he acknowledged WLS-FM's return, playing his new WLS-FM jock ID from Class Action, followed by the WLS version of “Life Is A Rock” which was also played at midnight.
June 26, 2008 at 5:59 pm #60187BarrasThanks for the WLS jingle info. Mike, can you get WLS-FM on the internet ? – I`ve done a GOOGLE but no sign of any audio output link…

June 26, 2008 at 6:19 pm #60188mjb1124MemberGo to The Stream Center and you'll find it under their old call letters, WZZN.
June 26, 2008 at 7:39 pm #60190BarrasHey…thanks for the link to Chicago`s true oldies WLS-FM. I`m listening right now in North-East England and it sounds fab, Scott Shannon`s on-the-air at the moment with those superb JAM jingles.

June 26, 2008 at 7:59 pm #60191jlehmannI still with they'd get rid of Scott Shannon and the rest of the “True Oldies Channel” elements. A city the size of Chicago deserves good local talent!
June 26, 2008 at 8:10 pm #60193bland75MemberYep great to hear those classic JAM jingles on the air again. Have just recorded this TOH aircheck which includes a mini montage of old WLS cuts.
Enjoy!

Cheers, Paul.
June 26, 2008 at 8:17 pm #60195BarrasThat`s the most use of jingles I`ve ever heard in a TOH !
Did you catch the montage I put together a few years back Paul (posted earlier in this thread) same jingles but in a different order.

June 26, 2008 at 8:28 pm #60196cosgrovebmI've got the over-the-air signal dialed up here at the office right now and am rolling on it. I'll try to post a montage a bit later.

Sure did David – a great montage indeed. I wonder if someone sent it to the station for use in that TOH link ??
June 27, 2008 at 2:18 am #60202mjb1124MemberSo far it seems that the jingles are used way too sparingly. They mostly are still using the “94.7 FM” True Oldies liners. The music and the local jocks sound good, but they really need to spice up the imaging if they want to recapture the spirit of the old WLS.
June 27, 2008 at 3:20 pm #60215RobWalkerMemberI've been listening to the stream for a while this morning … I haven't heard one JAM jingles yet! Arrgghh!
June 27, 2008 at 4:38 pm #60216TaterStudI actually heard several this morning during AM drive (7 o'clock hour – Chi-town time) – and they sounded GRRRREAT! I'm guessing they use them a little less during the Shannon hours.
June 27, 2008 at 5:44 pm #60218kcmikeI’ve been listening today and I love it!
I agree that more jingles should be played, but that’s my gripe with EVERY radio station!
Who is the VO guy at WLS-FM? Sounds like the same guy who voiced The 80s Channel, WXXY.
