Goes to show a jingle works .. people notice it and sing when it comes on tv… Thats how great Radio station packages used to be
March 26, 2008 at 6:41 am #57885mbMemberYou can hear it here, It's actually 20 years old from 1988 and was the theme for the Fall 88/89 campaigns.
come home to the best…only on NBC.
Not sure who did it but I don' think it was a radio jingles company.Go to the promos section and the NBC section there are a few versions of this theme
March 26, 2008 at 11:00 am #57886LenGroatHow ironic that some producer for TV has recognised the importance of sung identification, something many radio groups have forgotten how to do properly.
I suspect this was prompted by the high profile of the Chris Moyles jingles on Radio 1 ~ and a lot of people know that Moyles would use JAM jingles walltowall if the BBC allowed him to.
The 'We're American Airlines – Doin' what we do Best' is a CLASSIC, and could easily be updated into a station theme even now 26 years later.

March 26, 2008 at 7:21 pm #57894JingleMadMemberAuthorwe all know great jingles work,as you said len about chris moyles .. he has the same bed and a sung jingle to suit any subject… in ILR you may get a voiceover to id a spot on the show………. a sung jingle works so much better and is working too for tv now… but then the jingles and the singers have to be better than most of the uk stuff (sandy .. your work is ok)
March 29, 2008 at 3:46 pm #57956RjMI heard this O'Grady song for the first time over the bank holiday. I had channel 4 on in the background, and I have to admit it caught my ears and made me look at the TV. I'd have never imagined it was based on a 20 year old NBC promo though! Thanks for the link to the original Michael. I especially like the '89 “Come home to the best” theme which I think O'Grady's is based on.
I wonder if the same company produced them both? Is it a re-sing, or just a very good copy?

May 13, 2008 at 6:29 pm #59322RjMI've found examples of both the NBC and Channel 4 versions on YouTube, and it can't be denied that the 2008 version is based on NBC's from 1989.
