Fanily, WMAX Grand Rapids is stunting for a brand new format.

I herd lots of Jam AC jingles this morning, Then lots of ReelWorld packages..

Question is, Which format will it be?

Any guesses gies? To me, “Fresh 96.1.” That is what I herd when they played company packages.

This could be an interesting flip. It’s currently a Modern Hot AC. Not too long ago, it was a Jack FM clone. Before that it was CHR as WTVI “I-96″ and had a catchy Reelworld custom.

Folks on the Michigan Radio and TV Buzzboard are guessing it will flip to Contemporary Christian Music.

Radioinsight.com believes the new format will be Modern Rock. They also report that owner Clear Channel has registered several 961 related domains recently including channel961.net, channel961fm.com, channel961online.com, chanel961.com, ch961.com, radiox961.com and 961shinefm.com. Clear Channel uses the “Channel” moniker mainly on CHR’s, including WKQI Detroit, KHTS San Diego and KZCH Wichita, but Clear Channel already has a CHR in the market with WSNX.

The “scary” video at 961maxfm.com shows only “2.4.08 @ 10:01″ which is when the new station premieres. (I think that’s 3pm UK time Monday in case anyone wants to catch the flip. There’s a stream link at thestreamcenter.com.)

It most likely won't be Fresh, because that's mostly a CBS Radio station name. Clear Channel tends to be cheap, and does not pay to use names owned by other companies such as Fresh, Jack, etc.
