Davina McCall has been sitting in for Ken Bruce on Radio 2 this week. I just heard her come out of the 11am news with one of their woeful Groove Addicts cuts into which was spliced a “Davina McCall” sung namecheck. It sounded like the singers Alfasound used to use, but who knows? Sorry – was in the car and couldn't record it.

In characteristically grumpy-old-man mode … I do wish Radio 2 would stop importing TV presenters to add supposed star status to the station: Davina M has no feel for radio.

I would not say she has a feel for TV either
Other than the dreadful Big Brother when the BBC gave her a chance for a Proper presenting job it was one of the BBC1 biggest flops to date confirming she just does not cut it when it comes to interviewing anyone other than Z list wantabee’s

Yes I agree Geoff – star presenters who don't drive the show themselves are always pretty lame. Perhaps I will forgive Jonathan Ross where at least driver Andy is part of effectively a double act.

So no re-imaging for Radio 2 as they approcach their 40th birthday ?

The Groove package has lasted very nearly 10 years – is this a record ?

Yes, JR is a one-off – better on radio than TV, I'd say. You're right about the longevity of the imaging by Groove Addicts. It souunded thin in 1997 and now sounds, er, positively bald.

Chris moyles had the name check done and he and dave mixed it on air with a radio two jingle

Davina was in his studio at breakfast and liked the jingle
