Kid O-Shay, Program Directer at The New 99 WMYX Milwaukee, WY told me via email that they stopped using Jam after 26 years and went with Zone radio imaging for the KS95 2005package.
WFZH 105.3 The Fish dropped their GMI Lite AC Package and went with KHMX 2004 package from Reel World.
Edit: The 2 stations I've mentioned have just aired their Packages at 5AM this morning.
Edet 2 Michael, Please edit your post.
Edet 3 This will be on the next JNN podcast.
July 28, 2007 at 6:36 pm #31631IanMemberI am not qualified to say really but just a thought and this is not my view.
Could it be that Jon at Jam has been in the business so long he is slightly out of touch.
I personally am a huge Jam fan and not a fan of these modern jingles made up of zaps, whizzes and bangs and stuttering singing, but it does seem that a lot of stations are now airing these sorts of jingles.July 28, 2007 at 7:58 pm #31633mbMemberIt's also the view haeld by stations. Some PDs may think that because all they hear is soft AC stuff from JAM that that is the sound. The PRO FM package is as good any anything IQ or realworld have produced.

I do not think Jon Wolfert is 'out of touch'I believe he has strong principles: in music quality, sound quality, producton quality, vocal quality, and he STICKS to them.
No other North American jingle company can equal him as regards these qualities ~ and no one in Britain gets ANYWHERE close. Some can copy the vocal sounds, some can create jingles that are noisy and exciting, but no ONE company can create the broad range JAM has done so VERY well for over 30 years.
I do not think he is 'out of touch' I just just suspect he does not 'want to be IN touch' with some 'modern' programmers. The ones who are satisfied with jingles not made by musicians but computers, by people who cannot even read music, by stage singers trying to sing jingles.
I think he can AFFORD to stick to his principles and not have to produce 'lowest common denominator, repetitive packages' because he has enough back catalogue material, and quality clients to keep him VERY busy.
But when Jon DOES make 'edgier' today jingles they are better than all the Reel/IQ/Buddah lot put together. Listen to how inventive, simple, musical and CLEAR his new package for Fresh 102.7 in New York is ~ it's already been mentioned on this site.
It is … Unique, Exceptional … Like Jon Wolfert and his JAM team
He is certainly not 'out of touch'.

well i'm not surprised.jam was at it's best,in my opinion,up until the early 90's.then the jingles started going cr*p.the last jam cd i bought was back in 1989 from alfasound which had wplj,z100,q96 etc demos on it (although i did buy authenic 80's direct from jam about 2 years ago).
July 28, 2007 at 10:21 pm #31636JingleMadMemberAuthorThis is the plsce to share Jingle changes in the States and the world.
Let the PD'S Decide What Jingles Stations should use.Kid O-Shea is the PD at WMYX The New 99 WMYX. It's his choice.
He went with Zone because that's his des choice.
Besides, Kid is a good friend to Zone.

July 29, 2007 at 12:13 am #31639JingleMadMemberAuthorEdit your post again, Michael.

I'd certainly disagree with this.
'Top News', for example – made in 2005 – is one of my favourite packages of all time. And it has my favourite TOTH cut ever.
I'd love it if a UK station got it resung, but I don't suppose there are many stations here which it would suit…
July 31, 2007 at 1:03 am #31685radiojingles.co.nrhey JJ! thanks for creating this thread.
I'm sorry to be so impatient can't wait for the next podcast. But does anyone have montages of these jingle imaging updates.
I appreciate Jingle Junky for his initiative. But a jingle news is great if its coupled with montages too, right? I missed those years when this forum is stacked with montages almost every month. I missed mp3airchecks! Neal would always have new montages of jingles on his pocket and would never have a second thought to post and share on his mp3airchecks.com site.
anyone?
oh, BTW ,thanks to Paul McGrath for giving us a taste of the WMYX new jingle, i think Paul it's really WMYX, it only sounded WMYS because it was taken off webstream.

Can we please get back to the thread in general now?
August 3, 2007 at 3:21 am #31766topcatI've just flown in from Milwaukee this evening. Shame I didn't get a real chance to listen to the radio while there this past week.
Before that, I was in Mississippi and Louisiana. WTIX (using the WFUN logo) was airing classic PAMS acappellas on their oldies programmed FM. I've got to tell you… for those that care… they sounding frigging awesome! If I could get those voices together today… I'd hire them in a second to sing for any station I own or operate. There were a couple of KenR acappellas on the air too… and they weren't so hot.

August 3, 2007 at 9:03 am #31769IainJohnstonMemberTC…do you have any audio stream link for WTIX-FM?
Not listed on Streamcenter.com, and their own website
has no streaming link (was quite an “inexpensive” Site!)August 3, 2007 at 1:14 pm #31774gameswizardMemberJohn Hoare wrote:

as a rule (regarding jam),i only collect 70's,80's and very early 90's jam now.i'd like to slightly alter what i originally said by way of adding that not everything jam produced after the early 90's was cr*p…just most of it.
also, there's masses of stuff from thompson creative and century 21 that i adore listening too even now.August 3, 2007 at 3:54 pm #31775JingleMadMemberAuthorCoste 101-1 in ST: Jons is using ReelWorld's WJXA PaclPackage after using Jam's Kost packages.
August 3, 2007 at 5:11 pm #31777Maya53While we are on the same subject, is there news or rumors that WCBS-FM in New York is getting a brand new jingle package? I was listening to the stream and thiere is one cut that sang “WCBSFM!!!….” fast with a different melody. I'm sure that it is not one of previous JAM packages but the unheard cut is still from JAM.
If you think these jingles were believed to be brand new ones, not the ones from the previous “Home of the Hits” and “Do It Again” package, please post them here.

Your threads are irrelevant to most forum members here who are based in the UK.
This is ultimately why you do not get the response you seem to crave so much.
