That's definitely one of VLS's musical exploits. A quirky musician in his own right.

MemberDon't think Jon wrote that one – JAM of course did a number of great jingles for the show. TV offal was very funny and it would be great if it was repeated somewhere on TV or even released on DVD.

The sad thing about TV Offal is that rights are a nightmare. There's no way that it could be commercially released – but also, some of the clips in it could only be negotiated for *one* broadcast!
Hence “TV Offal Prime Cuts”, a Best Of broadcast in 1999.

You know i keep listening to this little song and how the musical notes are arranged still makes me think Jon Wolfert wrote it. It has that certain JAM sound to it and a certain flow to it…if you know what i mean. It would be great if the big man himself could clarify this because it's doing my head in!
Victor Lewis-Smith is , as mentioned before, a good musician and did mock Radio 2 jingles on his Radio 1 show back in 1990/91. They were good and funny as his TV Offal stuff. However, this little song doesn't sound like his. Only the lyrics. As you know all jingle composers have a certain way of writing music and Jon Wolfert is no exception and is one of the best. That's the great thing about Jingle collecting. The variety of ideas used by all companies…and gives us plenty to talk about.

MemberAlthough JAM was featured prominently throughout the TV Offal series, we had nothing to do with the “Queen Mother” song. That was 100% Victor Lewis-Smith (who is a wonderful, creative, quirky, jingle-lovin' guy).
So the short answer to the question would be: No.

Thanks for replying Jon. I can sleep now. But a nice bit of work from Victor there. Had me fooled. Makes me wonder what he's up to these days though ?!

MemberHe seems to have disappeared after a high-profile and typically controversial spell as a columnist on the Daily Mirror. The man is a genius, but a little abrasive for many, it seems.
Wikapedia has some audio clips of his Loose Ends bits.

Thanks for that Geof. You're right, he was abrasive for some and had “Tantrams of the Week” on TV Offal for that reason i think. That was great watching celebs, B and C lists, moaning about him and Victor responding on TVO to wind them up furthur to breaking point. He certainly knocked down a few egos.

The wonderful Mr W wouldn't dare write anything so rude about our Queen Mother, besides the Americans simply adore our Royal Family lol!!
Jon, I am listening to your Country demos as I write this, love Country Proud, Hit Country, New Tradition (always liked the KYGO logo), and just found a cut I like in Full Access, great for a Personal Cut one thinks.
I know Jon is too modest to reply about his demos.

MemberIf you are lucky to live in the London area, you can read Victor Lewis-Smith every day in the Evening Standard as he currently is the TV critic for the paper. Reading his column makes my commute home more bearable that is for sure.
Anyway, here is a great montage of VLS's clever lyric writing and JAM's work for the program plus an example of John B.Well's VO for the “Gay Daleks”. Enjoy !

That and the second series of Fist of Fun on Radio 1. Another great comedy show. It's a pity Radio 1 don't do comedies like this anymore. The last great thing they did was Chris Morris' Blue Jam which is my favourite show of all time! Funny, satirical and scary. Brilliant!
