      Hi All;

      A bit of a long shot this one but maybe someone out there can help. Does anyone remember hearing a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg (and very overblown!) jingle proclaiming the wonderful sights / sounds / features of Hobart, Tasmania? I know that Danny Baker used to peridically play this on his BBC London (GLR) radio show, but I've not been able to track it down.

      Any help would be much appreciated, thanks !!

                I remember Chris Tarrant on Capital Breakfast playing that jingle all the time too.

                  For those with the EAP's long lost tape “World Of Medium Wave Radio Stations”, it's on there !

                  It's something like the begining of side 2 on the tape – but don't quote me on it ..

                    A definite blast from the past, I`ve got the LP vinyl record of World of Medium Wave radio stations, great LP cover it is too with lots of station stickers on the front cover and studio/dj photos on the inside.

                        Hi there, thanks for the reponse. Chris Tarrant probably did play this – it is certainly the type of thing he did feature. I definitely remember Danny Baker playing it as well, but then if Kenny Everett also played the jingle, it's clearly done the rounds already!

                        Thanks everyone, Pete

                            I too have been looking for this for a long time. The links in the above post seem no longer to work. However, I have now found it on YouTube by searching for 7HO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBAhG0FNqO0 My recollection was that it was Chris Tarrant who played it, but Danny Baker may have done so as well. However, whilst you may have been amused by Hobart having such a hick jingle, you can’t blame it on the Tassies. Here’s an earlier version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RypFjKzdIxA from Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. But it seems this one is the original https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WvXn8WS33g from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada in 1964 for CKCK-TV Regina. I also found this movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C84xAQnjU-s Wonderful Town (1958) Rosalind Russell – Kinescope. I haven’t listened to it all but from a quick sampling I don’t think the movie gets the blame for creating the song, and even if it did, back in 1958 this would be sophisticated!

                                              Neil, at 0:25 its PAMS Series34-A cut 12, from the tape I scrounged out of 7HO away back in 1972!

                                                  Certainly on some of the tapes I scrounged from stations away back there were a lot of 32/33 34-A-B-C “combos”.
