Man, my ears are overloaded right now !

BBC Essex launched a new S2Blue package on their 20th birthday last week, it has a great lead into the news, big & brassy (no demo has appeared @ S2Blue yet !) And now a quick flick to Essex FM shows they have new sung ID's as well … Not sure who they would be from, I got a sneaking suspicion they are from Reelworld as Late Night Love (Essex local edition with Phillipa Collins covering) was using Reelworld beds without singing. Anyway more airchecks of Essex stations to grab I think, the Essex FM cut was a female sung “Essex FM … Todays Best Mix …” I see we've stayed with the old GWR group strap for the time being.

Dream 107's turn for new ID's next maybe, the Tindle group seem to roll out hte same tired package from Music 4 at all their stations with a simple resing. The package then drags on & on, 103.4 The Beach sounding out-dated by the time Radio Norwich hit the air earlier in the year !

BBC Essex have got a great new news bed. I especially like the one used for a new handover to the next presenter. That goes on for a full minute.
It was about time they changed their jingles as the previous set lasted for 6 years!

Like Essex FM's new jingles. They are very good, and big sounding.

As for Dream 107, well they have more new voiceovers but still from Music4. I think Alan Deddicott has replaced Chris Sturgess as voiceover king.

Yeah I agree about the news bad really full on sounding … The singers are a bit Alfasound-ish not the US vocal style we had before, but the resukts are great. Travel is listenable & if it's going off in the car every 15 mins peak times it has to be listenable !

Essex FM are certainly using Reelworld ! They are using resings of the Hallam FM 2006 package, not my favourite but nonetheless they are sung ID's & sound big. Check the demo of Hallam FM on the Reelworld site for a taster of the whole package …

As for Dream, they always sound 3rd place around here I think most Tindle stations imaging could be so much better, the kind of station they are with older hits mixed in might benefit from a JAM type package, a good top of hour & travel sequence etc and they can sound better I think it's all in the imaging sometimes …

S2Blue please update ya site, need to hear BBC Radio Suffolk & BBC Essex demos lol !

I was listening to Essex FM online the other morning, and as well as the “Today's Best Mix” strap mentioned above, I heard a nice version of Hallam '06 cut # 3 sung “Radio made in Essex, for Essex”. Have they had any other cuts sung with this strapline? I love it when jingles have sung slogans that are a little bit different to the typical “Today's best..” etc.

For the couple of hours I listened I only heard a handful of cuts used, shame they don't appear to be using the package to it's full advantage, as say Key 103 do with their Reelworld package. Admittedly it is hard to judge on one short listen.

Incidentally, anyone know how the Hallam and Key 2006 packages have been selling outside the UK?

Can't wait to hear those Essex re-sings of Hallam FM '05.

I agree Rob, it's always nice to hear more interesting straplines, especially where they have a geographical element – makes them sounds less 'off the shelf'.

Would be nice to hear the Key103 package catch up with Hallam FM in terms of number of UK re-sings.

The Hallam FM package is being used on KFOX 95.5 in Lufkin, Texas.

Attached is one cut from Essex FM. They do seem to be using them very sparingly, in one and a half hours they only played one cut.

Here's another cut, which is smokin' hot. I think it's Hallam FM cut 3: “Radio made in Essex, for Essex”.

Thanks for posting those matti – they sound great!

Nice to hear sung jingles on Essex FM again, let's hope Essex FM build up to a fuller use of the package.

Always liked the Essex FM JAM Breakthrough re-sings and ALFA Power Positive package – it always sounded really hot in the mid/late 90s.
