The new package will be from IQ Beats, can’t wait to hear what they’ve come up with myself! similar to their BBC Radio Leeds custom? A name change is also expected, as they are currently IDing as GMR- BBC Radio for Manchester (BBC Radio Manchester?) April 4th is the re-launch date suggested over at UKOnAir.

The themes are all influenced by prominent Manchester artists of the last forty years – and continue to feature the BBC voices which BBC local stations, including GMR, currently use.”

This will be interesting…I find IQ Beats a bit hit and miss jingle, Will be interesting to hear this package and what they’ve done with the Phil and 40 years of artists!!

Not great to remove all the stations web pages and content for nearly 3 weeks!!!
Manchester is changing into what??? its been changing for the last 20 years – its pretty much fully rounded as an urban big city nowadays…

I hope the GMR creative team didn’t spend too long working on that concept page!!!

Don’t know if this has been mentioned but the station voices of Radio Manchester will be Trish Bertram and Craig Kelly – moving away slightly from the GMR sound.

I will be intrigued how the guys in Seattle will put across Mancunion music influences, I’m guessing either there is a considerable amount of writing from both sides of the atlantic or the guys from IQ Beats have been listening non-stop to The Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, Stone Roses and Elbow etc!!
