As we stand on the cusp of a new year,it’s only right that we look back at what’s happened in 2005 across the jingle community.
* Our Own Chris Stevens has risen via the University of Teeside,Sun FM,Real Radio and Radio 2 (and of course the mighty Devaweb)to become the Creative Director of TM Century. His first package for 107 The Bee aired in October and has already been resung for Northants 96 .It’s a position that is tailormade for one of the real nice guys of Jingles as if there’s anyone at all who knows exactly what works on the air,it’s a collector – ask Jon Wolfert!
*Speaking of 107 The Bee,it’s launch on the 1st of October sees all the hard work that Roy Martin has put in to see his home town get a full time commercial radio station come to fruition. The station currently awaits it’s first set of RAJAR figures in the new year – everything points to a great market share according to local feedback in it’s first few months on the air – and it’s nice to see an independently run station kicking EMAP’s arse in that part North West (where Rock FM have had it too easy!)
* We’ve held JD3 in London – the biggest jingle day yet with over 20 of the UK’s best known collectors meeting up to talk shop and do the legendary Jingle Day “shouts”. More is planned next year and of course, there’s Jinglemad 2006 to come (which involves a number of JM contributors in the planning) – of which exclusive news will be posted here first.
* We’ve seen Andrew James and Bruce Upchurch become regular contributors to our forums. These 2 guys are responsible for some of the most recognisable and familiar jingles of the last 25 years – Andrew through his work with AyJay Productions,Bruce of course, through JAM,TM and freelance!
*Even ex GWR stations have started to use Jingles again – will wonders never cease?
What are your favourite jingle moments of the last year? Why not post your comments below!
My personal thanks go to Roy Martin,David Hemsley,Sean Martin,Dave Watts,Simon Hirst,Nicky Schiller,Dave Barras,Pete Wilson,Aston McNeil,Robin Blamires,Mark Hodgkinson,Martin Simm,Stacey Harris,Dave Furness,Martin Lester,Iain Johnston,Michael Bolton and all contributors to Jinglemad.com….you make it what it is – the world’s best and friendliest Jingle Forum!
I’ll leave the last word to JAM though …

That’s what you get from typing a message after 3 cans of Stella on New Year’s Eve!
Hope everyone’s got rid of the Stella head, and made the resolution of playing more Jingles this year!
