Listening to Thompson Creative’s ‘Atlanta’s 94Q’ package, which sounds exactly like an old Atlantic package got me wondering:
How many packages did Atlantic 252 have in its life, and from who?
From various collector sites I believe that they did indeed have a Thompson Creative package, and also one from Murfin Music. But what others did they have, and in what order?
July 24, 2004 at 1:04 pm #24093JingleMadMember1989 ‘Euro Power’ – Thompson Creative
1990 ‘Custom’ – MMI
1997 ‘Long Wave Radio’ – Thompson Creative
1999/2000 ‘Re-Sings’ – Reelworld Productions
Also over the years, they had lots of voice overs/liners/sweepers from Larry Thompson, Bumper Morgan and others……
July 24, 2004 at 2:19 pm #24095AdminThere were one or two cuts from the 94Q package in the 252 test transmissions. Never herad them again when the station launched!
The ’97 package Ben mentioned were the resings of Chicago’s Dance Beat for B96. They were used as Top Of The Hour ramps…
Anyone remember the cut that was sung “the station that sounds so much better than you know who…Atlantic 252” ? Classic!

July 24, 2004 at 4:23 pm #24098AdminAlthough the original demo for 252 was called Europower, it later became known as Ultrapower –

July 24, 2004 at 5:19 pm #24099NickySMemberWe had a lot of fun making up some of the liners … including the vox “Hi I’m Dick and I listen to Radio One … Don’t be a dick make sure you listen to the best music on Long Wave Radio – Atlantic 252 etc etc … ah memories.

“If the car next to you isn`t playing LWR Atlantic 252….moon at `em…”
