Listen out for some changes in music imaging for one of the BBC’s national stations over the next few days
June 9, 2004 at 10:20 am #23984DASEverywhere you go, you’re a little tease…!
June 9, 2004 at 11:16 am #23985DevawebMemberNot wishing to also tease…
I’ve heard it, and it takes a bit of getting used to! Nice that they’ve kept the musical logo the same – I think it’ll be a grower.
June 9, 2004 at 11:39 am #23986JonnyhI too have had a preview of them. They are ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!
They manage to demonstrate in each cut, the disgraceful state of radio station jingles used today.
Whoever produced this package should be thoroughly embarassed. It certainly was not produced from a musician!
June 9, 2004 at 12:00 pm #23987DASIs there anybody who hasn’t heard them then? Apart from me of course…!
I’m slightly baffled here then. National station would suggest either Radio 1 or Radio 2. As Radio 1 don’t really have their musical logo any more, I would guess at Radio 2 – but Mark Radcliffe’s only just got his singovers. Unless it’s 6 Music…

Yeah doesn’t it really p**s you off..when people tease you,but don’t tell you the full story!
If its Radio 6 then no worries..who listens to it anyway?!?!
BUT Radio 2…now that is a different story!June 9, 2004 at 12:54 pm #23989JonnyhI’ll give you a clue, it’s a station based somewhere between Radio 2 and Radio 6 music. Don’t get excited though – it’ll be a massive disapointment.
June 9, 2004 at 1:19 pm #23990DASWould this station between Radio 2 and 6 Music provide Live News, Live Sport?
June 9, 2004 at 7:32 pm #23991NickySMemberAuthorHave to say I agree with Chris I think they are a grower rather than an instant oh they’re great. They took a few listens for me to think they’re not that bad.
June 9, 2004 at 7:39 pm #23992JingleMadMemberAre they by Music 4?
June 9, 2004 at 7:55 pm #23993UKJinglesMemberHere you go DAS…No one else seems to want to tell you…
Before I get sent to the Tower for Treason…
The new sound of Radio 5…really naff but it does make BBC Local Radio identification sound much better!!! 😆http://www.pete-wilson.net/BBC5crap.mp3
Life’s Too Short to Hoard Jingles
June 9, 2004 at 8:02 pm #23994DASYou’re a gentleman, Pete.
Certainly different isn’t it? Starts off like a Harry Nilsson track and ends, well, like a Harry Nilsson track.
June 10, 2004 at 8:52 pm #23997enerjeeThey’re lovely and fluttery! Shame about the voiceovers; they could have been complemented with stronger and more impressive vocals.
June 11, 2004 at 1:29 pm #24000OnyxPaulMemberthey could have been complemented with stronger and more impressive vocals.
In my humble opinion they could have been complemented by having been composed and performed by people who had a clue about jingles and radio imaging. 💡 As for them being “growers”: I suggest the BBC go out and buy a job lot of Fisons, take these and all thier recent Radio 2 stuff, plant them in the shit heap and see if that makes them grow!
June 11, 2004 at 1:31 pm #24001OnyxPaulMemberFYO I did not write “sausages” the web site did. I wrote sh1t.!
June 12, 2004 at 12:23 pm #24003frankieboyAm I the only one on here who actually thinks they are quite good? listening to the tail end of ‘Sport on Five’ last night, everything seemed very seamless, but maybe I’m looking at things differently from everyone else.
June 12, 2004 at 12:57 pm #24004DASTo be honest I’m quite liking them too. But then again I also preferred the previous package to the first one – and to say that to some jingle people is regarded as sacrilege!
June 14, 2004 at 11:34 pm #24009DavidHemsleyThey certainly sound better on air than they do on a tape.
June 15, 2004 at 1:20 am #24010DevawebMemberI’m starting to really enjoy them on air… they fit very nicely.
