This isn’t the only song that’s happened to. I remember Taffy – I Love my radio. Our local version had the chorus of ‘I love my radio, my Beacon Radio’. Haven’t ever been able to find that. I think Radio 1 had ‘I live my radio – my national radio’… etc… Don’t know about Ant & Dec though.
This was a bit of a trend, no doubt to encourage stations to play the song. But then power intros came along and that was the end of that!
I also remember a record by Sean Maguire called Good Day in which the chorus was remixed into a jingle which went “Ooooooh, it’s going to be a good day with xxxxxx on xxx FM”. The song made number 12 in the charts, which wasn’t bad considering it was pants.
