I’ve just finished reading both Ken R’s books on jingles and Don Worsham’s “The Hits Between the Hits”. So I think I’ve absorbed a bit of jingle history. Now here’s a challenge: if you had to sum up 6 decades of jingles in 6 jingles (one per decade), what would they be? To get you started, I’ve put together 6 cuts, with a different company for each decade:
1950s – CRC
1960s – PAMS
1970s – TM
1980s – JAM
1990s – Groove Addicts
2000s – Reel World
I found the later years really hard to do. So which cuts would you choose?
By the way, I think the idea behind this post is not to select FAVOURITE jingles of each decade, but a cut that somehow sums up what jingles were like in the 60s, 70s, 80s, etc. I’ve included the TM KHJ cut because of the dominance of shotguns and accapelas in the early and mid-70s.
