We would like to wish the best of luck to the team at Radio Alabama, re-launching the iconic WSGN brand on 98.3FM in Central Alabama – Sunday 31st July at 12:01am (GMT-5).

We recently re-sung a collection of Gwinsound jingles, primarily Series 15 ‘Turnarounds’ which are a fantastic fit with the station format. We’re proud of the final production and hope that they will trigger memories for the listeners of WSGN.

Hear more on air or online at http://www.wsgnradio.com from Sunday!

The jingles do sound good, glad to hear your product on a “real” radio station.

I am curious though… from what I’m gathering, the original WSGN aired the Drake jingles that these Gwinsound cuts are obviously based on. Were they not able to locate and/or get the rights to those? I see that they also had cuts from PAMS, CRC, TM, and JAM at various points.

I’m guessing the original Drake versions would have been considerably more expensive to have resung? And Sonovox versions were never done with the original Drake version.
Using the Gwinsound versions also maybe slightly updates them from the Drake originals?
            I think they sound great.

Definitely not knocking Sono Jingles, the station, or these resings… just found it interesting. I did like hearing the alternate sonovox versions, especially with the WABC-style sono “W” followed by the rest of the call letter sung.

In theory, they could purchase Trak-Pak volume 4 from Jingle Samplers and match the acapella vocals from these cuts to the original Drake tracks. But then again the average listener might not even be able to tell the difference… heck, I have to listen carefully to distinguish them myself.

I remember K-Earth 101 still using Drake resings of some 93KHJ jingles nearly 10 years ago, their former sister radio station.

We’ve made products for various “real” radio stations – not just personal collectors.

WSGN chose the Gwinsound Series 15 cuts, but access to the original Drake tracks is also available. Personally, I prefer the Gwinsound re-makes compared to the originals (Yes, I know. That’s a slightly controversial take on it) :)

We can add sonovox to most tracks, even if it wasn’t available originally.

It’s good to see a British jingle company selling American jingles to American radio stations lol!
