Recently, SiriusXM has all but eliminated the jingles from the ’70s on 7 – aside from the Casey Kasem reruns where the ’70s on 7 jingles in between segments are still intact, you’re lucky to hear one shotgun per hour. They already eliminated jingles from the ’50s and ’90s channels a while ago.

Now, they are moving both the ’50s and ’60s channels up the dial to 71 and 72 respectively, and rebranding them as “’50s Gold” and “’60s Gold”. The ’60s on 6 has still been using jingles up to this point – not as heavily as they used to, but still a decent amount. Will this change now that the channel is rebranding? Will new jingles be cut for ’60s Gold?

I recently took a SiriusXM survey that asked questions about which channels I listen to most, why I like them, and whether I’d miss them if they went away. One of the aspects I touched on was how I liked the ID jingles. I doubt many other people said this. But, it’s true. The jingles on the decades channels really work. Though, I’ve been disappointed they’ve been using the same ones over-and-over for years, without any significant updates. That, and they’re “automated” in a playlist…with few live jocks to really interact with the cuts, like they would have long ago. I’d imagine SiriusXM probably won’t blow budget on jingles if there’s any rebranding or channel moves. Hope I’m wrong.

I’ll also say that I’d love to hear the 70s on 7 throw in some TM cuts, or get a big TM composite to update its sound. I’m sure if they gave the “new” TM gang a call, they could work out a solid deal for some really cool material that isn’t getting much airplay anywhere else…it would stand out in the most positive way…and I know TM has very fair pricing, fast turnaround, and an overall great sound on new (old) material. Imagine “You” and “Design ’70” on the 70s on 7!!

The ’70s on 7 already have a good sized jingle library – I’d be happy if they just used them more often, and cycled them in and out more. Even before they almost completely dropped the jingles, it seemed like they had only 3 or 4 cuts (the TOH, DJ cut, and one or two shotguns) in regular use. But yes, it also wouldn’t hurt to mix things up with some TM or even early-mid ’70s PAMS material. I just wouldn’t drop the JAM stuff completely.

I can now confirm that ’60s Gold has gotten newly sung JAM/PAMS jingles to reflect the name change. Seems to be primarily Series 31, just like the post-merger ’60s on 6 jingles.

They sound good! I was happy to hear a few the other day. It sounds like Jon took the old sessions with the old lyrics and simply recorded the new name and logo in, where necessary. Like the “All 60s hits! (new logo) Non-stop music!” I hear no difference, other than where the logo belongs.
