Last Night was a Pain trying to listen to Allan or Jon

as both Google and Amazon Smart speakers no longer let you listen to Rewound if you are outside of the USA

only way I could listen was via VPN on my Phones speaker so not the best audio

Not Sure if this is Rewound Policy or Tunein as when you ask google or Alexa to play Rewound you just get a voice saying

This Station is NOT available in your country

I think its the Tunein new policy, https://radiotoday.co.uk/2020/09/international-radio-stations-now-restricted-on-tunein/. It was fine for me direct from the rewound site.

I listen through an internet radio which was fine last night, my Sonos speakers no longer work (via Tunein) which is a shame. A friend of mine listens to a number of US stations and all of them are no longer available in the UK

I have found out the following
As both Google and Alexa use Tunein

The UK’s High Court has delivered its ruling on Warner Music and Sony Music’s copyright-infringement case against online-radio firm TuneIn. As is often the way of these things, both sides have claimed victory. A press release from Sony Music was headlined ‘UK High Court rules in favour of music copyright holders in TuneIn Radio decision’, while one from TuneIn claimed that “the UK Court found in favour of TuneIn on the most important claim”.

So anything from the USA is no longer available via Tunein

The provision to UK users of links to radio stations which are already licensed in the UK does not infringe copyright. The provision to UK users of links to radio stations which are licensed in territories other than the UK, or of links to stations which are not licensed at all, does infringe copyright.”

As usual Apple has a hand in this as well

The ruling follows TuneIn’s recent deal with Apple to offer its service – with more than 100k global radio stations – through Apple Music and the Siri voice assistant. It’s unclear at the time of writing what implications the ruling will have for that partnership, at least in the UK. In August, British broadcaster the BBC also removed its live radio streams from TuneIn on some platforms in the UK, although that was a dispute over data-sharing, rather than copyright issues.

On top of this you can no longer record from the Tunein app so if you are in the UK

This app is as good as having a chocolate Teapot !!

Tunein now pre-roll an advert before they connect you to anything.

It’s the internet’s biggest pain – adverts. I compare it to trying to read the paper with somone throwing leaflets at you.

BBC stations are coming through loud and clear.

The BBC Gave up on Tunein last October

and all of Global Stations don’t use Tunein anymore
