A legendary PNW broadcaster who played a role in the lives of so many broadcasters, including myself has passed. Pat O’Day was 85. He was legendary and made radio so much fun. I called him one day in Seattle and asked if he would sit in for vacationing talk hosts. He did and lit up the airwaves with his iconic style. I’ll never forget his play-by-play recount of the Blue Angles flying through downtown Seattle. Pat was also known for putting the hydroplane races on the map.
I respect my mentors and Pat was certainly one of those. Here’s a terrific story by my friend Feliks Banel with links about this iconic broadcast figure.
