WCON is a massive 100,000 Watt signal in northeast Georgia that you can hear from Northeast Atlanta to western Parts of Greenville, South Carolina.. that’s 135 miles/220km on an average every day basis. I have a friend on Atlanta’s south side a further 50 miles away who can hear them most days. They have been owned for decades by Bobbie Foster, one of the only female station owners in Georgia. WCON is live and local 24/7/365. I’ve heard a live, local announcer on there at 2am Sunday and 10pm on a Wednesday night.

Anyways, sorry for the long post but I thought you’d like some backstory. Here’s some of their jingles from 7 years ago.. see if you can spot the part that aggravates the program controller/program director in me.

Not closing the weather read with the end sting but letting the bed ramble ON?

Walkerbroadcasting, thanks for posting this aircheck of WCON, together with the background information about the station. The jingles are from TM’s Star Spangled Country package. I don’t have any of the WCON cuts in the clear. However, here’s a short montage I’ve put together of the cuts recorded for KSCS, Dallas/Fort Worth.

(You’ll need to copy and paste the link below. For some reason, adding hyperlinks to JM has been disabled at present).

IainJohnston.. Yes.. that drives me bats&^t crazy. Back in 2012, the station was using a dos based automation system and CD’s.. so they likely had no idea how to or no ability to smoothly hit the 2 punch

Mark… im glad to provide a backstory when I have one worth of mentioning
