I don’t know if I’d call this “biting the dust”, unless you’re speaking strictly in terms of Cumulus-owned station. Seems like the new owners will at least keep the call letters, branding, and talk format intact. They say there are also no plans to replace any of the staff, but we’ll see how well that works out.

I do wonder what this means for newly-installed program director Dave LaBrozzi, formerly of WPLJ and also programming their soon-to-be-former sister station WNBM. Will he stay with WABC or with Cumulus?

If nothing else, it will be “interesting” to see what exactly becomes of WABC format-wise-for years the argument has been made AGAINST going “Oldies”–but jeez they are at the BOTTOM of the ratings heap–why not Oldies AND if they HAVE to do “infomercials”–why not “Time-Life Music” infomercials which were so slickly produced and would at least be CONSISTENT with an Oldies format? It’s almost as if they’re fighting AGAINST any kind of ratings success…:)
