Over the years I’ve put together a lot of samplers, large and small. The major ones are posted on John Quincy’s website. However, there are little ones which I’ve used in threads on here and elsewhere as examples of things people have asked me about — or — just because I wanted to. (laughing)
Anyway… It’s hard to go through these samplers since most were done using the “eight character” file naming structure that used to be required before advanced windows. So I have to look at and list to WFIL_PS.mp3 to find out that it’s WFIL’s Philadelphia Story since it’s not otherwise notated. This became really apparent recently when Noah had some samplers I’d done of jingles produced for my brother on his server where someone had renamed the files to something which made sense to them (even though his name was spelled wrong in the process).
What’s my point, right? I’ve still got copies of a lot of these little mini composites and things kicking around on servers, hard drives and the like. While the threads that linked to them are either long gone or buried in threads that are over a decade old, there are still some little goodies that I produced and still have stashed away. In the interest of letting everyone have a “fresh listen” to them, I’m renaming them to current structure… so you (and I) will know what they are… and posting them on the server for anyone to download. It’s going to take some time to pick through them all and appropriately name them, so this will be on ongoing project — not a one-and-done kind of thing. For those who have interest, you can look at what I’ve done already at http://www.jingles.org/stash
Again… Keep in mind that I’ll be adding stuff to this directory as I have time and also find things on other hard drives and servers, so you might want to check back from time to time.
Enjoy!

Heck TC, I hope they’re all intact – I’ve already this year had a big problem with defective ones (Am&z*n) that I intended to use
to replace CD backup disks – those “potential wells” on each logic element “cell” DO NOT like anything other than one “load”
of data and deleting, and any kind of defrag etc or even “normal usage” can kill the data.I’m now abandoning thumb/pen drives for anything other than “temporary transport” (or e.g. music in the car) and now use
a small array of “parallel universe” external HDDs (disk not solid state) as “mirrors” instead – a “step backwards” in technology
but at least RAID and other hard drive stuff can be “recovered” whereas thumb/pen drive data gets knackered.May 23, 2019 at 12:14 am #103743ntcarver0Member“30 thumb drives”

When I hosted a radio show at a local college station, I would record the shows and then store them on a thumb drive. I thought that was the safest place to store them. Wrong! I lost a good chunk of my airchecks, and am still trying to piece together the bits and pieces I could recover.
I learned a valuable lesson from that experience. Back up your data. And when you think you’ve made enough back ups, make a few more. Don’t assume your data is safe.

Iain,
I’m the king of redundancy around here. I’ve learned my lessons from the past.
P.S. Just uploaded more stuff to the server. Glad that everyone’s enjoying the private stash.
May 23, 2019 at 8:33 pm #103747ntcarver0MemberGot a question:
Did they use these cuts or did they use the logo they demoed on air? I know they eventually switched to the G-E-C logo when JAM came along, but what about the TM era?
Also, proud Maineiac here. Love the WLOB cuts.
Edit: Made the link work, thank you HTML.

The WNBC TM cuts with the G-E-C logo are from a cassette dub off of the station master… so I have to assume they used these versions at some point.
As for WLOB, a friend of mine went up to Portland and put their music library together when Wilkes-Schwartz bought them and automated them. He brought back their jingle masters, which were sitting in a trash can.

Guess it was delivered in mono ?
And speaking of backups, as Sean Martin once told me, ‘if you haven’t got three copies of a file then you haven’t actually got it’.
Good advice. Thank you Sean !

Yes… AM stations were mono back then. I remember, as a 13 year old, hearing the package on the air while camping in Denver.
On another note, I’ve just made my forth set of backup drives…….
