      Thanks for this topic Iain. Summer jingles used to be part of a lot of 80s and 90s packages (like Breakthrough and Very Nice from JAM).

      Dutch Radio 538 has a heritage and big tradition of summer jingles. Since 2002 the station is using summer cuts:

          Somewhere in my archives I have the Trella Hart “Super Summer” shouts, whispers and giggles.

          It’s harder to maintain the cookie-cutter formats of today if they recognize things like seasons so I bet they look at it as why expend the effort. It costs them less if they don’t have to pay for any additional production.

            Who could forget the “Chris Rainbow” Summer Radio on the show? Peter Powell used his right up until he left Radio 1.
