I figured, we got a thread for jam airchecks and such, so why not make a new thread, and being the time of year is getting real close, why not make a holiday-themed thread that gets updated anually! So, for this thread, we’re doing those stations that have flipped to all christmas, and classic christmas jingles or airchecks you have in your archives.

bare with me, I still use dropbox to share files, as this is an easy method for me, being blind and all, anyway… here’s an aircheck from a few years ago, one of my first ever recorded airchecks of a transition from regular programming to Christmas music. it has both sides, the regular format, plus a few jingles for the holiday format.

I regularly listen to WION in the USA – a full service am-stereo station that streams an actual off air feed (& sounds bleeding amazing). This station has a very long history & occasionally will throw in the odd jingle from days gone past.
Last Christmas (no not the song!), the top of the hour legal ID was replaced by a daily countdown to Christmas/WION ‘hybrid’.
I was somewhat dissapointed that this year they seemed to have not bothered. I sent a short e-mail to the station manager asking why & got a reply within minutes saying that they didn’t think anyone was bothered, but as I had asked they would.
24 hours later & bugger me they’re on!
So, what do we think it’s made up of – Station call letters sound Pepper/Tanner’ish

Good station – interesting soft/medium rock tracks

No Christmas jingle montage stuff from me this year – can’t find anything fresh in this world of stale radio playlists and already- tired “new” jingles; and all the classic “seasonal” iingles of the past have been well-covered by better “ears” than mine

And as for “Christmas music” – after 2 weeks already of the same burnt-out “Christmas Greatest Hits CD” of 1970s etc tripe in every shop I’ve already plugged-in my Trans-Siberian Orchestra CDs to the car USB as an antidote – rock musicians doing carols and Chrismassy classical music – to be played as loud as possible! Highly recommended by me at least, e.g.

so, i think that is somewhere in the Tanner line. I know the station was demo’d for WMEX in Boston, but i think KSD used a couple cuts here and there. not the Christmas shopping cut, but the legal ID. The package that it’s from, i know that was a canadian big hit, as it had its share of resings in different provinces. try asking TC, he may know.

The original demo of Up & Easy was for WMEX.
