Am in the car listening to our friend Jeffery T Mason on WJMK 104.3 J-Hits in Chicago via my iPhone!
I notice there are new jingles on air with a fab new Top Of The Hour jingle!
Come on Jeffro spill the beans! Are the new K-Hits jingles from JAM and which package?
August 15, 2016 at 10:11 am #100511DuncanNewmarchMemberEnergetic and exciting- they sound great!
August 15, 2016 at 3:53 pm #100512tyty21actually, listening to the cuts, it sounds like the cuts are from Reelworld. I have to agree, this new TOH sounds amazing! it’s good to know that they are using jam still, but updating just puts a whole new spin on it!I figured something would happen with this new CBS radio division.
August 15, 2016 at 4:30 pm #100513MarcMannetjeIt’s sound energetic and fast. I hardly ever hear slow jingles anymore even in slow to slow music sets stations use uptempo cuts. What is the idea behind that?
August 15, 2016 at 6:19 pm #100514mjb1124MemberHate to be that guy, but I’m not too pleased with the sound of the new cuts. Sorry, I’m still a traditionalist when it comes to classic hits jingles. Glad the classic stuff is still in the mix for now… Hope it stays that way!
August 16, 2016 at 12:56 am #100518Jeffrey T. MasonMemberDamn, you guys are QUICK! That top hour only hit the air for the first time last Wednesday afternoon.
It’s a brand new classic hits package from Reelworld, custom produced for K-Hits. The bulk of the new cuts will hit the air tomorrow.
I’m told it will live in tandem with the JAM cuts. We’ll see!
August 16, 2016 at 11:47 am #100520kcmikeI wonder if any other CBS Classic Hits stations will roll this out. I didn’t recognize it as Reelworld right off.
August 16, 2016 at 5:08 pm #100521Jeffrey T. MasonMemberI didn’t either! I thought it was Bruce Upchurch’s group who did the KOOL/Phoenix jingles a few years back.

I admire much of what ReelWorld produces but I don’t think they have any feel for the classic hits format, whereas JAM defined it. These new jingles risk making the station just sound like any other station, irrespective of format.
Just saying. Let’s not get into one of those tedious disputes.
August 18, 2016 at 10:43 pm #100525mjb1124MemberHaving heard more of the package on the air, I have to say it’s growing on me. The tempo, texture, and energy of the cuts actually fits the format quite well – definitely moreso than any other RW packages I’ve heard Classic Hits stations use. There are some neat musical touches and effects going on there too. Not wild about the vocals, but they’re not the worst I’ve heard from them. Looking forward to hearing the demo.
I just hope this doesn’t lead to classic hits stations dropping JAM en masse. That’s the last format that they really have a strong foothold in.
August 19, 2016 at 7:34 pm #100526tyty21I’m pretty sure we don’t have any problems with that. just as long as we got the right PD’s who know what they’re doing.
August 27, 2016 at 9:28 am #100553MarcMannetjeHi gents,
Here in Europe I cannot listen to American stations, due to ‘copyright limitations’. Are there more airchecks of K-Hits with the new Reelworld cuts? Or is the demo due to be published? Very curious here. Thanks!
August 27, 2016 at 10:18 pm #100558kcmikeUntil the anticipated demo arrives, here’s what I snagged off the stream today.
https://soundcloud.com/kcmike/wjmk-chicago-104-3-k-hits-reelworld-custom-august-2016
Listening today, I sadly didn’t hear any JAM jingles mixed in. Not sure if they’re gone already, or just absent today. The stream was always late coming back in off commercials and kept cutting off the beginning of the weather cut. Personally, I think the last cut has kind of a Bruce Upchurch sound.
August 27, 2016 at 11:06 pm #100559mbMemberGreat music selection the station sounds great – I’m sure the PD ( and some very expensive consultant) loves his new cuts, so if he signed the invoice that’s all that counts. Still not as bad as the IQ Beats Capital Gold cuts…….
August 28, 2016 at 10:11 am #100560MarcMannetjeThanks Mike. It is very modern to be honest… But those Classic Hits stations want to sound more CHR than ever before, I think it connects with targets well.
August 28, 2016 at 3:21 pm #100562WAVAMemberIt was time for change.
The JAM jingles were sounding stale.
Needed something fresh to excite.
RW have captured an exciting sound that fits with classic hits.August 28, 2016 at 10:18 pm #100565LamontTroop212I think if other classic hits stations adopt this, it’s the end of the line for JAM Jingles on Classic Hits format.
August 28, 2016 at 11:07 pm #100566LenGroatWava & Lamont:
“it’s the end of the line for JAM Jingles on Classic Hits format.” & “RW have captured an exciting sound that fits with classic hits”
I don’t see how you can make such sweeping statements:
1. The cuts have been on air for just DAYS – only TIME will tell if they endure. Wait to see if the PD who ordered these is still there in a year’s time?
2. Musically/vocally they are nothing to do with the songs they are playing.
3. ALL the jingles on the aircheck end exactly the SAME -a screechy, exagerated ‘swell’ on the end (not the singer’s fault the writers). The ends CLASH horribly with the intro of nearly all the songs!
4. The audio has had 96 plays -yet not one person has clicked the ‘Like’ button….
August 29, 2016 at 4:09 am #100567mbMemberThanks Mike. It is very modern to be honest… But those Classic Hits stations want to sound more CHR than ever before, I think it connects with targets well.
Hi Marc, I think as audiences move from CHR to classic hits and flit around XM like they do they’ll fit in fine. No disrespect to RW or the station its just not how i’d design a package to fit a classic format but then no radio station is knocking down my door to hire me to do their imaging
August 29, 2016 at 4:34 am #100568JAM / PAMSMemberso if he signed the invoice that’s all that counts.
WHAT invoice? Do some research.
August 29, 2016 at 5:21 am #100570mbMemberI was only making the point that whatever listeners / anoraks think if the station staff / mgmt are happy and satisfied then they’ve met the brief – no disrespect meant to anyone
August 29, 2016 at 11:42 am #100572gameswizardMemberThe audio has had 96 plays -yet not one person has clicked the ‘Like’ button….
Currently, 9 hard of hearing people have.
August 29, 2016 at 12:58 pm #100575GrahamCollinsHere are my thoughts from admittedly only one listen to kcmike’s audio grab:
The station really wants to be CHR but oh hang on, they’re playing oldies….
Every cut has the same logo and tempo from what I recall – it is the signature sound of Reelworld. Heard one, heard them all.
Agree with Len – the out sing of every cut seems discordant over the start of every song.I really like Reelworld on the UK Heart stations at the moment, but I don’t much like these.
August 29, 2016 at 11:39 pm #100582LenGroatThe most pertinent comment here is the SHORTEST:
“WHAT invoice? Do some research”
Is anyone else here as old as me, and remembers that BBC Radio 1 were GIVEN several complete packages by smaller US jingle companies for NO CHARGE because the companies wanted the prestige and publicity of being their jingle company?
Nuff said…………..
August 30, 2016 at 3:56 pm #100585IainJohnstonEh?
Thats a new one on me Len – can you elucidate please? (…and any audio???) -
