As we enter the (quieter) summer months for jingles, I see there is a new website for Bespoke jingles, + a package by WB for Cornwall’s ‘Pirate FM’ to listen to.

They are ‘today’s jingle’ style – drums & echo , stacked female vocal – BUT there is a lot of lyric for a ‘modern’ package!

Bespoke have done a package for Bauer ‘2’ stations.

They are again ‘today’s jingle’ style – drums & echo, few lyrics, and just solo female vocal – I can’t hear ‘Key’ on some cuts – tons of vibrato.

      Thoughts?

they seem to do what they need to do for todays* modern media; quite well. unlike the “drums & echo” with girl shouts that was so popular in the 1980’s.

        * yes yes, i realize you dont enjoy todays programming, so im addressing the question as posed. these will sell well around the world. and if given the option, wouldnt you rather these over effect layered voice overs?

I am not sure the Bespoke are the same company from your old station as there only looks like they have 3 packages for sale

I guess at £99 per cut any station on limited budget this does offer good value and 100% better that the over used sweepers and liners that now is the norm on most UK stations

I’m not a huge fan of some contemporary sounding radio station jingles made today.

It’s not that they’re bad, they just, personally, aren’t my cup o’ tea. Well, I’ve found some I LOVE!

They showcase the fact the station is local, that it has a local focus and flavor, it makes you feel welcome and like they are your friend/neighbors..and tells you who/what/when/where the station is in a matter of seconds.

We need to stop focusing on the old days, think about today and what the jingles make the listener think or feel.. that’s all that counts!

I’m reposting part of my comments about the new 2015 Orion package as sadly the thread didn’t go anywhere and I thought they were really good jingles deserving of merit and mention.

The 2015 Free package is quite nifty. Firstly the tracks are really upbeat and fun and the vocals / Effects play really nicely.
I also like the flourishes like the big band at the end of one of the mixes.
It is also interesting that the transitions are not just short version od the ramps but they’ve put the station name at the front and slogan at the end ( a la Hot FM ). Mix 96 in Aylesbury had the same package as Pirate in late 2014 and it sounded so good verses the package that seemed to have been on air forever ( I think it was a Bespoke RiL package )

The more you listen the more they grow on you – a sign of a really good jingle.
The mix of voices and singing may not be to everyone’s tastes but it gives a unique /flavour to the package and point of differentiation from the last one.

Now for the negatives -Everyone seems to be going for 7 or 8 cuts recently I think a good package with heavy rotation needs to be about double that.

Alongside the “we are GEM” and Free Radio jingles I think the Wise Buddha jingles make stations sound fun, fresh and upbeat. The tracks are certainly stronger than some of the recent TM packages – They certainly have the “pop” sound that I’m not hearing in other jingles.
