As regular readers may recall, I love that high-pitched male vocal sound that PAMS perfected in the mid- to late 1960s.
I noticed KenR had a version on one of his samplers and realised that life could not really be satisfactory until I too had such a cut. So here it is:
the KLIF original; the KenR cut that got me thinking; and the Geoffy B version sung for me recently by fur guys at JAM Creative Productions:
Enjoy.May 16, 2015 at 7:20 am #97756ratnobMemberAuthorBy the way, it’s now ten years that I’ve been fortunate enough to purchase occasional personal cuts from JAM.
Here’s the full collection:

It wasn’t that Jon imported four very specialist Canadian singers or anything. Blame my poor literacy skills. (I think I’ve spelt ‘apace’ wrong too, but can never remember that one).

It’s an amazing selection of cuts too
May 16, 2015 at 4:23 pm #97765NickySMemberLove it Geoff – listened to it three times in a row
I really must think about getting some more doneMay 16, 2015 at 10:34 pm #97766ratnobMemberAuthor‘When four men sing …’:

Just wondering if you listen to anything else except your JAM demos in the car?

As they state on the song Your degree has come in useful!
Some Great lyrics on them….I will have to hire your services!May 17, 2015 at 4:34 pm #97770ratnobMemberAuthorThat’s a fabulous collection, Geoff and nice to hear ’em back to back. Especially like the acappellas.

Good question: I do occasionally listen to music from, er, the real world, but then quickly retreat to the shimmering brilliance of JAM jingles.
May 17, 2015 at 5:00 pm #97771CanadaJimGreat to hear the KLIF acapella progress through the ages with different singers and production styles. I’m sure that ‘fur’ Canadian singers would have worked equally well!

Love the quirky Hardy Kirk demo from the podcast too. I would have had a ball re-lyricing that as a personal cut!
May 17, 2015 at 5:40 pm #97773IainJohnstonAm I wrong in my ears “saying” there’s (at least…) ONE female voice in your new acapella Geoff???
NOT just guys? …or someone’s trousers were even more too tight to reach those higher registers ;^)“Blame my poor literacy skills. (I think I’ve spelt ‘apace’ wrong too, but can never remember that one)”
…and of course you’ve got “SIGNing along” on the blog page … just CANNOT trust spell checker software…!
But GREAT audio regardless!

Oops. I shall put myself in detention.

http://www.bobdinan.co.uk/Blog/Jingle_Podcast/Entries/2015/5/16_When_Four_Men_Sing.htmlThere’s part of the melody in that podcast jingle that is reminiscent of “Call On Me” by Chicago.
I too love the harmonies of PAMS & JAM jingles whether they be 4, 5 or 7 piece male, female or mixed vocal groups.
Geoff, as well as the KLIF & PAMS versions of that accapella, of course there are the PAMS versions sung for BIG L Radio London and BBC Radio One in 1966 & 67.
An not forgetting some great harmonies in TM jingles too.
Sean Martin and Greg Clancy did some greats harmonies for me in a recent resing of a Full Force cut where we totally changed the melody of part of the jingle.
For me it’s great creative harmonising that makes for some of the best radio jingles off all.
