Funsters
On Sunday we have an audio treat – Jon Wolfert is taking to the airwaves (or whatever the internet equivalent is) on Rewound Radio.
See his announcement here:

March 26, 2015 at 10:07 pm #97491IainJohnstonCan’t see the story on JMW’s page with that link?
But I DID notice he seems to be a bit of an astronomy buff, as quite a few of us other JMers are too
March 26, 2015 at 10:31 pm #97492ratnobMemberAuthorDuh – sorry about that. Here’s the obvious link:
https://www.facebook.com/jamcreativeproductionsMarch 27, 2015 at 8:40 am #97493gameswizardMember“…19:00 GMT if you’re into that.”
That makes it easier to remember for UK listeners
March 27, 2015 at 9:03 am #97494DevawebMemberI think it’ll actually be 20:00 though, as our clocks will have changed that morning…
March 27, 2015 at 9:58 am #97495gameswizardMemberI think it’ll actually be 20:00 though, as our clocks will have changed that morning…
Which would make it 20:00 BST.
Thanks for the reminder – I forgot the hour went forward at 01:00 on Sunday 29th.
March 28, 2015 at 7:57 am #97496DWSharpI’ll be there. JAM rules when it comes to audio niceness. Wear your best tie Jon.
March 29, 2015 at 5:48 pm #97507ratnobMemberAuthorHere’s where to interact with JMW during tonight’s Rewound Radio broadcast:

I have RR live now with JMW as above via the NY Radio Bulletin Board link, at 20:02 UK BST
Stones playing…March 29, 2015 at 10:59 pm #97511DuncanNewmarchMemberReally enjoyed listening to that Jon, well done!
March 29, 2015 at 11:19 pm #97512MarkSMemberFantastic show Jon!
March 30, 2015 at 10:39 pm #97517DuncanNewmarchMemberDid anyone record the show? Would like to hear it in full
March 30, 2015 at 11:02 pm #97518jonnoMemberwas going to ask the same thing, as despite knowing about the programme in advance, I completely forgot about it yesterday
March 31, 2015 at 12:37 am #97519Tracy CarmanMemberI didn’t get a chance to listen to it in real time, as I was busy watching my daughter perform in GODSPELL. However, I was smart enough to use the automated features of Adobe Audition to capture the show. So… Here it is, bootlegged and scoped (but in entirety) from the web stream…
Jon Wolfert rewinds on the radio… er… web-dio? March 29, 2015 3pm-6pm!March 31, 2015 at 1:57 am #97520DuncanNewmarchMemberBrilliant
March 31, 2015 at 6:26 am #97521jonnoMemberThanks very much TC! Now downloaded and copied to my phone to listen to in the car on the daily commute
March 31, 2015 at 9:25 am #97522IainJohnstonI don’t know if Jon did it “live” or pre-produced – but it was certainly a very polished “dee-jay performance”!
Content, “levels”, timing, anecdotes, interesting choice of “NOT just the same old, same old” records either.
And just that “right” hint of “spring reverb” on the voice. Is Jon SURE he hasn’t “DJ’ed” at all in all those years? :^)
March 31, 2015 at 10:45 am #97524Sean MartinMemberThis listener used the RECORD facility on the TuneIn App and recorded directly to my iPhone. A really well-compiled and presented show and now I can listen when (and where) I want in true transistor radio quality.
So many jingles I’d never heard before!
I smiled and laughed at lots of things – probably mostly at the “talk-up” subject. Guilty as charged !
Thanks.
March 31, 2015 at 1:52 pm #97525gameswizardMemberI don’t know if Jon did it “live” or pre-produced
According to ratnob’s post, Jon was interacting via Facebook. So it was possibly live.
March 31, 2015 at 3:09 pm #97526RobinBlamiresQuite an amazing and exciting listen. And I learned a few things too.
March 31, 2015 at 5:37 pm #97527LenGroatTC: you are a life-saver – I was not able to catch it live – THANKS
Great dj’s are a blend of ‘radio voice’, good music choice (free choice of course…) balanced use of GREAT jingles that ‘work’ + that magic quality that the dj INVOLVES the listener…
It’s clear from this show WHY JAM jingles WORK so well with music – the man who wrote many, produced all, KNOWS his radio and KNOWS his music.
I doubt if anyone from these ‘modern’ jingle companies could do such a show – could communicate with such zest and musicality as this, they don’t understand ‘jingles’. What some companies call ‘jingles’ lack the ‘personality’ and structure to work as all these did.
This is a voice f l o w i n g with the music & jingles to make a seamless presentation.
Oh, and I can proudly say that Jon DID do another radio show in the last 40 years – on Gem-AM in 1992! Right after we chatted for an hour about jingles he did a LIVE self-op one hour show with discs and carts, on a Neve desk he had NEVER used before….
April 1, 2015 at 11:13 am #97531gameswizardMemberHere it is
The Red Rubber Ball song at 58:51 seconds reminds me of a ~9sec Red Rose Gold jingle with a similar intro:
Lyrics – “All time classics, Red Rose Gold” @ 1m44s here:
https://soundcloud.com/user856720480/red-rose-gold-1991-jingles-jamApril 1, 2015 at 11:40 am #97532IainJohnstonWell spotted GW !
As we know, historically “a high proportion” of radio jingles have been …er… “influenced” by the contemporary music of their era… ;^)
EDIT:- looks like your (more comprehensive) audio link arrived moments before mine, so I’ve just deleted mine.
April 1, 2015 at 1:49 pm #97534gameswizardMemberSlight OT, a lot of the jingles in RRG 1991 package are musically influenced – I love those type ones.
April 1, 2015 at 1:58 pm #97535RobinBlamiresThey’re from a rather rare JAM package for a syndicated oldies show hosted by Dick Bartley. Coast AM in Kent, and Marcher Gold had a few done, albeit with UK vocals.
