A few months ago, Radyo Natin in the Philippines has new jingles from JAM, while still airing jingles from TM Century (Good Time Classics, Holiday Package, Southern California’s KIIS).
The jingles includes the top-of-the-hour cuts of WABC’s Top News (Cut 1) and Z100’s Skywave (Cut 12), and one cut each from nearly all KOST packages.
I wonder why the audio quality is so miserable? The jingles sound out of phase, or like someone tried to remove some of the vocals electronically. They certainly sounded better when they left JAM. Sadly, this is frequently the case when random people post our stuff on YouTube.
Does anyone feel that the ‘Nationwide’ shout at the end of every RN jingle they played reminds us of those of the Radio 1 Vintage JAM did a few years back?
I do. I felt like MBC was just trying to chuck that in to make sure that ‘we’re a national radio network serving smaller areas NATIONWIDE’ every time they play those. Absolutely a mid move there, tbh.
My only solution to that is just to play the jingles as it is, MBC. You can play the ‘Nationwide’ shout some other time, not ALL the time.
I do have to agree that the usage of the “Nationwide” shout is a bit much. Though to be fair, having all of these jingles together in quick succession might make it seem more repetitive than it would be if you were actually listening to the station.
The recent JAM package only used a shout of “Nationwide” once. But apparently the previous TM cuts didn’t include that word so they stuck a shout on the end of every cut as a way to get it in there. JAM thought it was better to find a way to adapt the jingles so they were all sung, so that’s what we did.
