Hello Fellow Jingle Freaks,
Firstly, it’s so great to be on Jinglemad! As someone who has been obsessed with radio, and especially those “songs between the songs”, it’s great to finally be connecting with other jingle Anoraks.
So, some info on me. I’m 14 years old, and in the 8th grade in a small fishing village in Maine.
Now, for the mystery jingle. This is from 1976, and it absolutely rocks. The only problem is… I have no idea who made the thing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Very possible. WOWO did buy a package from TM around that time, but it contained cuts from BZ73. HMMM…

DATE JINGLE PRODUCER LENGTH COMMENTS
1950s-1990s Nancy Lee & the Hilltoppers :40 This is the famous Nancy Lee & the Hilltoppers version of the Little Red Barn theme!
circa 1966 Heller :40 A much-requested jingle: the lengthy “Voice of a Thousand Main Streets”
1967 Heller WOWO custom package
1969 PAMS WOWO custom package1972 TM Composite package that includes cuts from two TM packages, “Phase II” and “Sound ’70”
1972 TM Tracks from TM “Propellants” and “Image ’73” packages.1975-76 TM Tracks from TM’s “BZ ’73” package
1979 Tuesday Productions Custom package
1982 JAM Custom for WOWO, but syndicated by JAM under the title “We’ll Make Your Day.”
1988 JAM JAM’s “The Only One” package, originally produced for WNBC, New York.May 4, 2018 at 1:03 am #97324jinglejoeMemberWelcome Noah.
I recall that jingle too, as I was heavy airchecking & DXing back then. I’d venure to say TM; sounds like their vocals, but that legal doesn’t fit any of the above listed packages. BTW there is a JAM legal ID, from the “Nothing But Class” pkg done for WNBC. It is “super” hot!

joe cYeah, that’s what’s stumping me. I can’t find any trace of it in the WOWO jingles I have.
And oh man, if this is the one you’re talking about…

That thing is awesome.
May 4, 2018 at 2:29 am #97258jinglejoeMemberIt is JAM, but not “Nothing But Class”. Perhaps “The Only One”.

I believe this is the correct answer….
May 5, 2018 at 11:21 pm #97197Jeffrey T. MasonMemberThat WNBC top hour was not part of any syndicated package, but I’m pretty sure it aired between “Nothing But Class” and “The Only One.”

NoahHey, Noah, that is quite an entrance to JingleMad – with a jingle that many of us veterans (it’s more than forty years since I was fourteen) can’t identify. But I certainly agree with you that it’s a great cut.
Welcome aboard.

This is from a JAM demo tape ‘NBC 2’ dated 1984. I wonder why this cut never actually made it into ‘The Only One’?

Dear Mr. Carman,
I can’t believe I’m writing this now. It is so amazing to be actually communicating with a jingle God like yourself!
Thanks so much for the cut in the clear. Tom Merriman, your creations will live on forever. They are truly timeless.
So, now the question is… did the other Westinghouse Stations get a similar cut? Can this cut be purchased today?
Thanks again for the cut in the clear, and you’re response.
Yours,
Noah
May 8, 2018 at 11:30 pm #96792jinglejoeMemberAs far as I can tell, Noah, not all Group W stations got that or any jingles. For instance WINS in NYC was and still is all news. They would not have gotten that package.

Hi Noah:
1. Jingle God? Hardly… but thanks. My fourteen year old twins just call me “dad”. Longevity has its privileges and I’ve been doing this for fifty years.
2. I agree with Joe C. I don’t believe that I’ve heard a similar cut on any other Group W stations. The news jingle, itself, was common between some of them.
3. The cut COULD be sung today if TM had the backing track. However, I would guess that it sits on one of the misc reels in the warehouse here in Massachusetts and would be somewhat akin to finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
Any other questions… ask away. The community here on JingleMad is quite knowledgeable. Again, welcome aboard.
