Sad news. Scottish singer songwriter Chris Rainbow who produced many jingles for London’s Capital 194 in the 70’s passed away yesterday aged 68.

Chris was a very clever creative talented singer songwriter and was a big favourite of Kenny Everett and also Radio Caroline’s Tony Allan who both gave Chris’s songs loads of plays in their dhows, especially Solid State Brain and Give Me What I Cry For.

Chris also recorded with Camel, Alan Parsons and Runrig.

      A very sad musical loss.

And he’ll be remembered the most across the UK as the voice (+writer +performer) of the “Summer Radio” jingle on Radio 1 during the late 70’s and early 80’s.
A sad loss. Thank you, Chris.

Dave Foster did a nice bit on Chris Rainbow earlier this afternoon, he played a couple of Chris’s songs, a jingle and Kenny Everett’s wonderful radio commercial for Solid State Brain. A nice way to remember a talented very clever singer songwriter and musician.
