In 1974 Jon Wolfert had a vision for JAM Productions. His mission and passion was to provide the best talented writers, composers, musicians, singers, production and quality in every jingle made. JAM Productions has met the challenges of the media industry for over 40 years. Jon and his staff have blazed an amazing track of jingles. JAM has excelled and earned the respect and recognition of the broadcast industry, clients, and jingle fans worldwide. Thank you JAM Productions for your commitment and hard work. I wish you continued success in the years to come! Now listen to the first JAM Productions demo “Sampler 974” ….

November 22, 2014 at 9:20 pm #96289AndyWMemberCongratulations Jon and Mary Lyn. Their work has always sounded head and shoulders above anything else I’ve heard. Lush production and crystal clear sound quality consistently on everything. I’ve had a mini celebrate by digging out my Jam 20 years CD which will now be 20 years old itself to listen in the car today. Will there ever be a 40 years in 40 minutes?
November 23, 2014 at 12:24 am #96290LenGroatCongratulations indeed – a unique achievement for a company that is unique!
If you are on Facebook you can see the original “Certificate of filing of articles of incorporation” dated to 22 November 1974 and their post.
“For 40 years: The same name. The same owners. The same dedication to making the best jingles on the air, working with some of the most talented people in the world.
No other company in the history of broadcasting can say all that. Today we can, because of you. Thanks for 40 amazing years. From Jon And Mary Lyn, and all your friends at JAM”
November 23, 2014 at 3:43 am #96293tyty21methinks it’s time for a 40 years in 40 minutes montage!
November 23, 2014 at 9:47 am #96295IainJohnston“Thanks for 40 amazing years”
THAT says it all – Bravo Jon & Mary Lyn – from all YOUR friends out here

Now listen to the first JAM Productions demo “Sampler 974”
I don’t want to detract anything from the nice sentiment of your message, but just to be historically accurate the first official JAM demo was called “A Six Minute Sample” with a date of 5/74. There was also (briefly) a “Sampler 894”. Much of the content was the same as the demo you posted, but as we did more work we kept updating the sampler. I hadn’t listened to “974” in ages and, although I remembered all the material quite well, it was fun to hear it again and think back to a simpler time.
In other anniversary-related news, on this day 40 years ago (Nov 23, 1974) we recorded the music tracks to our first full package, “Dimension Two”. It was sung a few days later. We didn’t have an actual client for that package; we just made it up so that we’d have something real to play for people. In the original version of the demo (before we changed it to the WHAS version in 1976) each cut was sung for a different station with a different logo. This was supposedly to show the flexibility of the package (we quickly learned it was a marketing mistake to do that.) In reality, each cut was sung for a station where I had a friend working at the time, in hopes that they would convince their management to buy it once they heard it. That worked, mostly, and many of them came back for more. As we recorded those tracks 40 years ago, I had no idea that some of them would eventually be heard by millions on BBC Radio 1 and 2, or that the package would sell almost 100 times in the years to follow.
November 23, 2014 at 8:24 pm #96303DWSharpCongrats Jon and ML. Best production house on the planet. Dave Sharp wrote this.
November 23, 2014 at 10:15 pm #96305LenGroatMy love of JAM started when I was at Metro in 1975, and I met Steve England (he was at Piccadilly) via a ‘GPO’ landline booked to send a 30 second advert. The remaining 59 minutes (minimum hour booking) was used to send jingles! When I heard Steve’s version of the Dimension 2 cut I was ‘knocked ‘out’. It was an unsurpassable cut in terms of quality, melody and vocals.
Thirty eight years later ‘I plucked up the courage’ to order it as a personal cut and Jon went to a great deal of trouble to entirely re-mix the track and capture the vocal style of the original. I was knocked out by its ‘authenticity’ – with (I believe?) none of the original singers – JAM still captured ‘magic in a bottle’
With JAM – GREAT jingles live on forever…

November 24, 2014 at 5:25 am #96306ratnobMemberI echo everything that’s been posted here, and on the JAM Facebook site. I always remember David Barras saying that there wasn’t a day when he didn’t look at the JAM website. Likewise, there’s not a day when JAM’s audio doesn’t provide part of the soundtrack to my life. The sound of JAM has most definitely been everywhere I’ve gone.
Jinglemad veterans will know that I had the privilege of spending five days at JAM studios back in February. The photos and several hours of audio are posted here:

Jon – thanks for the memories.

November 25, 2014 at 4:51 pm #96318tophour_brianMemberNew Year’s Day, 2001: sitting in a studio in market #3 (Chicago, for non-US peeps), spitting out weak jokes, playing JAM jingles and even talking up the weather jingle from Skywave. One of the best days of my life, partly because of JAM. Congrats, Jon.

November 26, 2014 at 11:15 am #96322roymartinThis weekend on JingleMad Radio, we’ll be playing non-stop JAM jingles, one after another for a full 72 hours (yes we count Friday as the weekend!!).
If anyone reading this can voice me a “Hi this is (your name) – just dropped in to say you’re listening to non-stop JAM jingles all this weekend to celebrate 40 years of singing up and down the dial” – or something more imaginative – and send it to roy@roym.co.uk asap please.
Just putting the clocks together now. Mr Wolfert – you’re more than welcome to send me a line too!
And congrats on 40 years!

November 26, 2014 at 4:52 pm #96326IainJohnstonA TooYoob “JINGLES-WITH-PICTURES” of the JAM Song (“heritage unknown”) has been slipped into (Roy’s) Radio Today JAM 40 page by James Vertigan (…err..THE James Vertigan???)
Some of the “logo graphics” maybe aren’t quite the “intended” stations…but still worth a view…

Very cool! Between this, the all-60s “No Repeat Weekend” on Rewound Radio, and the launch of Ron Sedaille’s Fun Tower Radio, it looks like I’ll be busy streaming all Thanksgiving weekend.
November 26, 2014 at 6:34 pm #96329mjb1124MemberAnd congrats to Jon and Mary Lyn on 40 years of jingle greatness!
November 27, 2014 at 7:22 am #96343tyty21already voiced a line and sent it!
November 27, 2014 at 8:52 am #96347bossjockMemberCongratulations to Jon and Mary Lyn and all the team at JAM on the first 40 years. So many great jingles. Thanks for all the good times! Looking forward to hearing the “40 years in 40 minutes” montage

Sorry to interrupt, but I’m not seeing any player to listen to. Would you mind posting it again (and if possible, also make it available for download)? Thanks.
November 29, 2014 at 9:10 pm #96373IainJohnstonJK – it was (still is) linked over on the JM Soundcloud panel thats visible on the right hand side of the Home Page.
I re-posted an extra link up at the top of this page (i.e. 3rd one down).
Another reason why I (personally) find “orphaned” audio on that Panel to really need an explanatory link on a “relevant” topic thread, or as in this case, vice versa!
