Thanks Neal for your very comprehensive response. The jingles on Radio Plymouth certainly caught my ear in the brief periods as I was driving through Plymouth to and from holibobs in Cornwall. I found them far more engaging than the ones on Pirate FM – where they seemed to play the same cut to death every time we were listening in the car. I coined an alternative to their “Real Music Variety” slogan: “Less Jingle Variety”

Quick history on the news jingle that Neal mentioned… it was originally written for KCFM in Hull, as they purchased jingles for their launch, but needed a news intro with a ramp for VO on it (which most US news jingles don’t have).

Then, Bay Radio Swansea and Radio Plymouth wanted a weather bed with tag, and we also added traffic and sports beds too. You can also hear this package at the other end of the country – literally – on The Superstation across the Orkney Islands, and on Uckfield FM in Sussex. It’s turned out to be a small but incredibly flexible package!
