Hi Jinglemadders,
Because I clearly have too much time on my hands, I have put together a 36 question pub quiz and you’re all invited to take part.
There are three rounds of 12 questions each, each correct answer earns 1 point (so a maximum total of 36 points can be earned). The three rounds are 1 – Picture Round, 2 – Question Round and 3 – Audio Round.
It’ll take you around 20 minutes to complete and I’d love to see your answers via Private Message. I will put a leaderboard up as the answers come in!
Have fun and good luck!

March 23, 2014 at 7:35 pm #93819IainJohnstonGreat idea David!
But I want to try and answer each one WITHOUT looking up the answers (e.g. counting the station names on the JAM song by playing it…)“Nae cheetin’ ” Ladies & Gents!
March 23, 2014 at 7:38 pm #93820PrometheusThat’s the spirit. Best of luck gentlemen!

March 23, 2014 at 8:22 pm #93821IainJohnstonFfffffnnnn!!!! Too many “English radio” pre-internet-era questions David!
Could have done with some Scottish/Welsh/Irish/Islands/etc from that era to confuse The Sassenachs a wee bit!Apart from that – all good fun, and some damn difficult ones! … except round 3, Q3 – you need to keep up with all the “off air jingles” audio thats been posted on JM recently!
My answers will reach you shortly – PM or maybe email – but I think I’ve done utterly dismally – I did better with the late Ben Freedman’s “Jingle University” a few years back!
Hope the “next time” it would be nice to actually have the “Pub Quiz” in a REAL pub – perhaps some time the old “Jingle Day” might get reserrected…?
March 23, 2014 at 8:30 pm #93822PrometheusI’d be very happy to organise another “real” quiz, in a “real” pub, with “real” people and “real” beer.
Good point about the Anglicised approach. It was done rather quickly and maybe my unintended patriotism means I will have to do another.
March 23, 2014 at 8:43 pm #93823IainJohnstonNot at all!
Answers now sent – certainly “rattled ma’ heid” doing that – thanks for going to all that effort!
IJPS – anyone using the “PM system” to reply – remember to use the “Send (member) A Private Message” box at the left hand side – NOT the big “Activity” box – or people will see your private correspondence! (e.g. WPLM…)

March 24, 2014 at 6:57 pm #93830tyty21round 1 is a for sure loss for me, can’t see the pics cause of VI, but audio, I may can do some work with, might not know much about UK stuff, but if it’s jingle package/demo related, or stations in the US, I’m game for it!
March 24, 2014 at 7:07 pm #93831PrometheusGlad you’re game! It’s all for fun. I’m happy to try and describe the images to you!

March 25, 2014 at 9:46 pm #93844jonnoMemberSurely someone out there has a bigger anorak than me?
March 25, 2014 at 10:37 pm #93845SeanMartinShoot, my anorak is at the dry cleaners
March 26, 2014 at 8:55 am #93849Tracy CarmanMemberSurely someone out there has a bigger anorak than me?
Nah. I know what I know… and know what I don’t know. Ya know?!
March 26, 2014 at 9:17 am #93850jonnoMemberSurely someone out there has a bigger anorak than me?
Nah. I know what I know… and know what I don’t know. Ya know?!
and I know that you know a lot more than I know.. I just got lucky.. ya know?!
March 26, 2014 at 10:35 pm #93868Prometheusjonno, it would appear (possibly with the excuse of Sean’s temporarily unavailable anorak) that you are Jinglemad’s supreme jingle being!
I would have liked to have made this a frequent event, learning from JM’ers, but given the limited response, I think – at this point – I am unlikely to do this again or arrange a more ‘human’ version
March 27, 2014 at 8:44 am #93870IainJohnstonHing oan a minit, Pal !!!
How did TC get to move UP into 3rd place after his initial 4th place “ranking”!!!
I demand a recount! …. or at least a “tie-breaker”!!!
Shame about the response levels – I did get the impression though off-forum that there were JMers “doing” the quiz purely for fun but not actually sending in their answers.
And probably awaiting the “offical answers” list being posted to see how (badly!) they did.March 27, 2014 at 11:22 am #93873Tracy CarmanMemberThere was a PAMS jingle quiz that JMW did in late 1972 that would be fun to post…
March 27, 2014 at 11:27 am #93875IainJohnstonOr even the late Ben Freedman’s “Jingle University” one?
(…at least I got more than “half marks” in that one!)
March 27, 2014 at 11:59 am #93878Tracy CarmanMemberNo. Jon’s is an audio one worth posting… but I’ll leave it to him to decide if he wants to. I don’t like to steal the roar of someone else thunder.
March 27, 2014 at 12:23 pm #93879IainJohnstonQuite rightly TC.
If Jon should ever set a diabolically tough “History of JAM” one, I’ll bet we’d all struggle to get into double-figures, no matter how much we think “we know”!
March 27, 2014 at 2:22 pm #93882March 27, 2014 at 2:44 pm #93883IainJohnstonWell done to Jonno!
What does he get as a prize David? A resing of a Box Productions cut maybe ?
March 27, 2014 at 7:03 pm #93885Tracy CarmanMemberSee… and I don’t even get phased when my name is spelled wrong!
