Yes I’ve ‘gone all modern’ and bought a 1980s jingle! It’s for Solid Gold Gem AM’s ‘1960s Cafe’. The structure of the cut is pure PAMS 1960s but with a more incisive short short message and of course PERFECT Sonovox!
The regular JM’s will know and love this cut from ‘Flamethrower’ but in case you don’t it was created for Z100 New York and then re-sung for BBC Radio 1 in Britain (and hundreds of stations world-wide)
Technically it’s a PERFECT music-to-music transition jingle.
I LOVE the Jon Wolfert Sonovox – he’s done ALL the Sonovox on JAM jingles for 40 years now…. quite amazing.
I’ll be playing this a LOT on the 1960s Cafe plus a variant I ordered – listen in at noon any day Monday to Friday!
Has anyone on here had this done as a personal cut’?

I heard this in your show the other day and said to myself “that’s a great transition cut”!
Nice one.

March 22, 2014 at 9:36 pm #93813scotronMemberGreat cut Len. Plus, you have just motivated me to purchase another personal cut soon……What to chose……..
March 23, 2014 at 12:19 am #93814LenGroatThanks for the comments!
Sean: yes it’s perfect as rather than run 2 songs together the fast drums ‘break the key’ of the previous song and the staccato end goes into medium or fast intro songs.
There’s another JAM cut with the same structure: ‘Solid Gold (sono) ‘pings’ – Radio 1″ not sure what package it was from at after midnight….
Scotron – I look forward to hearing your (eventual) choice.

March 25, 2014 at 2:39 pm #93842RichardHi Len love the cut have it myself as a personal cut did post it a little while ago. I think the cut you mean the Sono Solid Gold ping Radio 1 is from the WLS Class Action package that would work really we’ll love that cut too! Also lucky enough to have that as a personal cut too! I listen to GEM all the time love it! One small thing thou you could do with some voice overs in between some tracks like John Wells those Radell Lee Rose voice overs on another station I think work well, sorry to critique just a small observation. Keep up the good work lovin’ it!!
March 26, 2014 at 9:38 am #93851LenGroatGlad you ‘love’ the cut Richard, and yes that cut from Class Action is also VERY usable.
As regards ‘voice-overs’ we did of course consider that but being non-commercial we are fortunate to be able to afford to buy/licence superb jingles from JAM (and some from TM) As they are functional cuts, or already convey our style, they don’t really ‘take’ a v/o.
Our ‘core’ year is 1960, and we spread into 50s and 70s so that was really the age of SUNG jingle, v/o’s did not really become popular until the late 70s? We DO have the superb voice of Danny Cox, one of my Trent /GEM dj’s who went on to great things at Fox FM and others stations, so we use that for a few show features/ promos.
I thought you might like to hear the alternate of the cut I had done… Jon kindly agreed to do a sung ending. It is fuller than the sono version so I’ll use it into songs with strong intros…
