      Occasionally jingle companies may try to syndicate a custom package, or a “Series” one perhaps, and it might turn out to not quite “set the heather on fire”. Maybe not a complete dud, but perhaps with “lower than anticipated syndication sales”.

      But what happens when a completely new in-country start-up producer dips its toes into the water of a completely new market starting up music-based commercial radio for the very first time? Yet where there’s no foreign competition permitted and very little “local” competition either?

      For those, like me, old enough to remember the 1970s, and those “less old” JMers who like a bit of “jingle heritage” – this is the SuperSounds demo…

      Did they get as a much as a single order from even a single UK station? Ever? :-?

      {Credits:- to BossJock and Chalks, for digitally recovering this ancient audio from reel-to-reel tape :) }

        I must admit that when I heard this for the first time I thought it was some awful spin off from the United Biscuits Network, notice the McVities adverts, the liberal use of Roger Scott, who was their Programme Director and ‘Supersound’ was the station strapline…..

          True – confusion existed between “SuperSound UBN” and “SuperSounds” – but everything was all so “new” and I think it would be fair to say there was a lot of “cross-pollination” of names, ideas, etc back then!

            Well done Iain, Graham and all involved in preserving this Gem

              Jeez! “Showreel” – there’s a much abused term that one doesn’t hear every day anymore!

              PS – Graham – various other “antiquities” from the digitization project of BossJock’s ancient reel-to-reel dubs of my old tapes WILL appear sporadically – but I’ll try to avoid any embarrassing audio “appearances” or stealing of thunder from other Collectors’ original material of the era :)
