Noticed recently that my “local” ILR, Kingdom FM, one of the last of the “real” ILRs, had some new jingles.
Seemed OK enough, was around their TM Studios contract renewal date. Same logo as created for them by TM.
      Slightly different vocals.

A “refresh”maybe. All in keeping with their existing “sound”. Sounds fine on-air.

Then I find out today from JM’s “JingleNews” links that Kingdom have gone to Reelworld (Europe)!
      http://www.jinglenews.com/2014/03/05/kingdom-fm-scotland-rules-with-reelworld-one/

And they’ve done so just as German-owned Bauer, owner of most of Scotland’s big stations have binned their reelworld stuff and gone to Wise Buddah for a much-critiqued “blands” non-sung “hey I’m a class-Z celeb voice-over!!!” thing; and Kingdom did the change just before the Bauer “move”.

      1) Are reelworld Europe definately now “promoting” a more “gentler” vocal sound than the harsher USA one, certainly for UK clients, even if its USA tracks?

      2) if BBC Radio 2 had so much fuss about their “sonic logo” situation over the past 2 years, there seems to be no hassle with reelworld “using” one created for Kingdom when Kingdom transfers to a different jingle provider.

      Thoughts Gentlemen?
(…and especially what Len might think of “reelworld without the screetchy bits”!!!)

(…and a shame for TM to lose the contact – their excellent custom work for Kingdom in the past few years has worked well on-air, and also has generated a lot of resing work for them).

Interesting point about the “no hassle with Reelworld “using” one (logo) created for Kingdom”. I suppose it’s all down to the companies relationship with the client. The acidicly worded press-release from Radio 2’s previous company suggested they were ticked off…. hence the enforced change-over period.

As regards “Reelworld “promoting” a more “gentler” vocal sound”, I still (with all respect to the singers who do what they are told) find it too sharp and screechy, too high a register, and it needs male singers as well.

Maybe there are cuts in different tempos not on the demo – if not it will wear-out quickly.

My biggest problem was that on most cuts they CRAMMED the full strapline “Fife’s Feel Good Station Fife’s Kingdom Fm” into too tight a space so made it sound like..

        “”Fifesfeelgoodstation – FifesKingdomFm”

I’ve never been impressed with Reelworld’s err, ‘style’ , but hell, what do I know about good jingles?

A bit torn on this one…much as I like the TM packages, I understand that imaging requirements alter over the years. It didn’t seem long ago that Kingdom were using jingles from Bespoke…

As for the new Reelworld jingles…I like them! Their other new packages for Radio Yorkshire, FM104 and RTE 2FM are also very good. However I think the 2FM usage so far has been concentrating on the sonic logo’s aspect of the package, similar to 538 in the Netherlands and Bauer in the UK.

Oh…and there are male singers on those Kingdom FM jingles.

Fresh and upbeat. The “Fife’s Kingdom FM” logo sounds good on these. I like them, as I did the Breeze jingles when they hit the air just over a year ago.

Too much female top on (most) Squeelworld Jingles!

“there are male singers on those Kingdom FM jingles”

If there ARE boys on these they are singing in a very high register which defeats the point of having them as it ‘sounds’ 100% girls. Also the vocals are far to processed/ strained..

For me they really are “Squeelworld Jingles” (good name Pete!)

Sorry Len…I can hear the male vocal clearly on these and to be honest on most other Reelworld jingles. Except for maybe some of Kiss 100 or Rock FM jingles in the past which were female based.

I always thought our local station “Eagle Radio” had very female top Jingles (IQ Beats) But the new one’s sound a bit butch-er and can be heard at

I assume these are new as I haven’t heard them before and they do sound better! :-?

As long as they don’t scream its ok.
                      But do I know.

Like the tracks but not the vocals.
