Hi all Jmer’s! Happy New year to you all.
Just a quick note to say I have moved all my Steve Wright In The Afternoon jingle/themes montages etc from Sound Cloud to YouTube because honestly I hate the bit rate downgrade and even before that did not like the artifacts that came with their encoder.
I have moved all my stuff tohttps://www.youtube.com/user/ProductionMusicCandy
]
I’m uploading more and more as fast as I can for you because it’s a little more time consuming with video (even though we’re only listening to the audio side) I’m even uploading never before heard of stuff before and soon all the recording session vocal snoops.
I’m first and foremost a radio guy. I love it!! And that’s why to this day, even though I’m mostly involved with other composing activities…I LOVE doing stuff for radio.
Come over and see me on YouTube, subscribe if you like and soon you’ll hear the SWITA 2017 montage which is the biggest work I’ve ever done form him on BBC radio 2…EVER! ????
More than anything thanks for your support over the years
AJ – Anthony James (Composer) oh I’m also onTwitter https://twitter.com/AJMusicProds
Keep on Jingleling
January 6, 2018 at 9:45 am #88430DuncanNewmarchMemberGood work Anthony. If you get the chance, I’d love to hear some of the 80s Steve Wright audio again- “summer 87”, “another true story” and there was a cool cut “commercial free… Radio 1”. Thank you
January 6, 2018 at 9:55 am #88431rakMemberHi AJ, Serious Jinglin’ (no G) – thanks for all the Steve Wright montages, always good to hear. Session videos are good to see as well, if you made any during the Steve Wright sessions.
The old Power FM package is one of my favourites – like nothing else on air at the time! 30 years this year, I think.
January 6, 2018 at 11:15 am #88432GrahamCollinsAJ you deserve a long service medal – terrific stuff.
For me I always liked the much underrated package that you made for the original Virgin Radio here in London – ground breaking to my ears. Really hope you’ll include some of this eventually including the longer elements
January 6, 2018 at 8:32 pm #88410ratnobMemberJust to echo everyone else’s thanks, AJ – great still to have some jingles on air in the UK that entertain and surprise with their range of styles and lyrics.

Rak that actually made me laugh out loud!!! (serious jinglin’ No G) I’ve just done a few of those Serious Jockin’ NO G to be heard real soon! Thanks man for the comments. I was thinking of uploading a new 20 minute outtake session snoop but don’t know if it is of interest. It’s audio only…but I can put pics to it I guess. Thanks AJ

As always Sir thanks for your support! I think you’ll find the new stuff for 2017, of which there is a hell of an amount…will surprise and hopefully entertain. My pleasure. Many thanks AJ Montage of all that coming in about 2 weeks.

erm, is the Pope Catholic? As well as enjoying hearing the finished product, I find it fascinating to see/hear the production process too.
Thanks for doing what you do AJ, both professionally, and for the montages and session vids etc.

Jonno ok you got it. Will upload tonight here in the antarctic in New York City!!
January 9, 2018 at 7:40 am #87646AJ-NYCI have uploaded at the request of some of you a session “snoop” and outtakes/bloopers montage. It’s a very condensed version obviously of what happens so as not to bore you all with gaps of normal studio session recording and such! It’s interesting for me alone to hear this back and there are some funny things going on. Also, I should point out that incredibly the group “block vocal” singers you hear working hard to bring our sound together only meets in my studio once a year for 4 hours! They almost never meet each other apart from when they sing for Steve’s stuff as I hand pick the singers for his jingles. The solo vocalists come in a little more often as I work with them on other projects.
However, the last 1 minute & 11 seconds has an extraordinary vocal performance done in one take by a new vocalist I’m working with who has done some vocal work on Steve’s Sunday Love Songs idents for BBC Radio 2. It is a new Jazz style cut we call “Peggy” and you will hear why. Her vocal is outstanding and bold and blows me away…oh and she’s Rihanna’s lead backing singer! Great voice. Credited on the video description. Happy listening/viewing. Thanks AJ

Good to see hear the harmonies are done, as they practice and go for the take. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post this video (and the montages).

Thanks rak! I sort of only just realised, by a comment on that YouTube clip that I had posted a montage of outtakes of jingles that I only handed in yesterday, so in a way it’s an exclusive of what hasn’t been aired yet! Oh well…it’s only radio and jingles more important things going on. AJ
January 10, 2018 at 11:57 am #87628GrahamCollinsI’ve often wondered why AJ’s material is so rare in the collector world and the story I’m told is apparently simple. When a DAT or CD was delivered, it was immediately carted up or dubbed to MD and more recently, ingested into the playout system. The media was then binned ! Literally thrown away. Not kept on the premises at all. To the station staff these little pieces of gold are just a commodity with no historic value at all.
Keep them coming AJ !
January 11, 2018 at 9:20 pm #87545m_hodgeyMemberThanks AJ for the audio delights, and now at a much better bitrate. ????
I’ve always been a huge fan of the Steve Wright jingles you have created over the years; the funny thing is that they are superior to the main station package!
Please keep the uploads coming.

Absolutely!

Must admit that the only “proper” items I can think that I might have off the top of my head are N&pst*r-era
downloads of individual-cut MP3s of Whitechapel AM and the “reverb-free” West Sound 2-9-0 here in Scotland.AJ…you KNOW what we’d all like very much to happen some day !!!

Hi Jonno, so yes I am planning this week (hopefully) to put the full Talk Radio package created by AJ Productions in 1996 on my YouTube channel, co-composed/produced by myself & Andrew White. I will post the link when it’s up. The original Demo was narrated by Sean Bolger and featured Paul Robinson doing the “audio foreword” . Thanks .AJ.
January 30, 2018 at 11:55 am #102498UKJinglesMemberAJ…….
It’s great hearing this wonderful material of yours!
**Weird Request Alert**
Could you possibly post some of your very earliest Jingles please (What was your first actual sung Jingle?)
I’m guessing it must of been in the Golden days of The Hot FM (and maybe Paul McKenna one of your earliest Clients?)
Anyway would be great to hear any of this and your early material for Steve Wright…Thanks!
January 30, 2018 at 1:42 pm #102499rakMemberI’ve got a vague memory of hearing a jingle for AJ as a jock on Chiltern, mid-late ’80s. How about an aircheck, AJ?
January 30, 2018 at 2:28 pm #102500IainJohnstonEarliest?
ILR-wise maybe WestSound in Ayr?
January 30, 2018 at 10:02 pm #102501mbMemberHere’s just a little montage I made – Sorry Anthony its cruddy quality and doesn’t do the material justice but thought it would be nice for people to hear maybe somethings they have not heard before. Fantastic range and quality. Enjoy!
Oh and whoever put those Whitechapel cuts online was a naughty person ! I created the full MP3 cut breakdown and named them, As far as I know very FEW people EVER heard some versions of the cuts yet alone had them! The Titanic cut was called that at WAM because i loved the old PAMS tradition of not only naming a series but each cut.January 30, 2018 at 10:22 pm #102502GrahamCollinsNice collection of memories there Mike – enjoyed those. The last time I heard the SWITA bits was off air !
