Anyone who loves JAM will know all about the classic packages the JAM team made for WMGK. Some cuts from ‘The Magic is the Music’ were on my list for our fourth GEM-AM jingle package, which was never to happen as we had our jingle budget stopped when Capital took us over in 1993, and of course within a year in came GWR. But now 29 years later I’ve finally got the classic cut 10 !

Here’s the end vocal only version, any guesses as to what the front might sing? I think it is unique!? I’ll post it soon…

I know – but I’m sworn not to tell!

The “Magic…” series of packages from JAM are well worth a retrospecive listen for “newbies” under the age of 30, for the quality of the writing and musicianship/vocals :)

I’ve no idea what the lyrics are (but at a wild guess, It’s radio like it used to bee), but I think Mike Collier would sound good on the front ;)

Thanks for the comments. Interest in these classic jingles remains strong ~ 128 ‘hits’ on that first audio !

Here’s the full version: the lyric of from my ‘Beatles Cafe’ which is seven nights a week at midnight so as well as the ‘Lady Madonna’ one (already here on JM) we needed a second jingle pretty quickly.

It took a while to sort because of the ‘register’ the front part is written for. Mike Collier has a SUPER voice (we first met in the mid 80s when we flew him in to sing on some custom Trent Alfasound packages) but I wanted group vocals to pull it in a 60s direction. After some sound advice from Jon we have ‘girls’ into ‘guys’ then the group. Hope you like it !

Excellent Len, I wonder if Rutland Radio launched with the 4 of the cuts you were earmarking for GEM back then? Most were from Magic Is The Music 1. Rutland Rewinds the music, with the male vocal at the beginning. We all loved to play that jingle.
